I succumbed and ordered two of each of the three Kemps sock wools that are left....they are on their way as I speak!! I am making lots of socks these days, as well as glove, scarves and other things with sock wool...I just love working with it!!

Knitted another Katia Ondas ruffle scarf yesterday. I started it in the hairdressers (colouring session!) and got half of it knitted then. I finished the rest while watching tv in the evening. Planning on getting another started tonight, though might look up a neck warmer pattern to match the fingerless gloves I knitted over the holidays. Oh I also finished a pair of socks for DS2 yesterday too, he is size 12, so it took a bit longer to knit!!

Will post piccies once I have found my camera...a day for losing/misplacing things methinks!!

my wool from Kemps came today and its lovely, even lovelier as it was cheap! I notice that of the sock wools have already sold out... but they have 3 more colours left (I got the brown and the turquoise, lovely it is) http://kempswoolshop.com/search.aspx

Oh no, I'd forgotten about Kemps - they're great for wool aren't they. I have to stop myself looking (had a quick peek but had to come out quickly before I succumbed as been very bad lately and bought too much wool). I'll bear them in mind for when I've got through my [STRIKE]ever growing[/STRIKE] tiny stash.

Also printed out that sock pattern, many thanks. Just got some Regia sock yarn from a Raveller so will give it a try.

By the way, did you know that in Shaws you can get nice aran yarn with wool for £4.95 for 400g? I got some (4 balls - 2 pink and 2 blue) to do some knitting for the children as they're growing like weeds at the moment.

Finished my jumper in Debbie Bliss Donegal Luxury Tweed; it's so lovely and soft to wear but I showed my inexperience by not doing the yoke long enough. Live and learn don't you though - I just wear it with a T-shirt underneath as it's a bit gappy if I don't. I'll try to post pictures in due course.

Has anyone bought metal circular needles from China via ebay? Just got a circular needle that I won on ebay, foolishly didn't ask if it was metal or plastic. Turns out to be bendy plastic, slightly rough so the stitches don't move along easily. Bad buy but only a couple of quid.

I haven't bought Chinese circular needles from Ebay myself (I've stopped buying anything from China on Ebay) - but have been watching a few that are on there at the moment. These are the makes you'd recognise from your local wool shop - but about a third of the price!
I'm looking at them at the moment because I don't know which length to buy- I've finally decided to use up some of my stash and make a chevron baby blanket (not that I've got a baby in mind to give it to!).
The blanket is about 80cms wide and I'm going to use a circular needle (for the first time) and I'm not sure what length to buy 40cm, 60cm, 80cm or 100cm - I have no idea and don't want to buy too big!
Anyone got any advice for a circular needle newbie please?

I have some circular needle advice but it is not very MSE I'm afraid...WARNING, LOOK AWAY NOW IF YOU DO NOT WANT TO SPEND ANY MONEY!!!

I bought these http://www.knitdenise.com/ which are marvellous and satisfy all your circular needles needs! They come in a smart case and spares and extra parts such as stoppers and cords are available too so you can add to them. It is an expensive investment but when the need arises then you have every needle and every length you need and they are a lot cheaper than the knitpicks ones.

My Kemps sock wool came today, lovely colours, will make lovely hexapuffs for my beekeepers quilt! Sad when I am looking at what I can use the left-overs for first!! :rotfl:

Have a good knitty evening...I'm learning how to do transfer painting at my quilting group tonight...can't wait...looks like it's going to be messy, woo hoo!!! :j

Is your blanket knit in the round or straight across?

If it's in the round (ie what you're producing is a tube) you'll want a circular needle a bit shorter than the circumference of the tube. If it's straight but you want to use a circ anyway, choose one a bit longer than the width of the fabric.

    Hope that helps.

    Hi all:j

Just wondered if anyone had any advice re Knitpro needles?? DH bought me a starter set for Christmas which I haven't used as yet. Then MIL & FIL have given us some cash to buy something with, just for ourselves & nothing to be spent on bills, sboring stuff etc, just on treats!! I wondered if it was worth buying the Knitpro kit (seen it in the sale for 60pounds) that has circulars & all the bits & pieces in a case?

    TIA if you can help
