I recently bought some of the ribbon yarn with the loops along the edge, apparently you knit the loops and it makes a ruffled scarf - OMg its like a punishment, it takes sooo long. Has anyone else tried knitting with it? I was thinking maybe knit it along with a strand of Dk but not decided yet.:oClearing the junk to travel light

Aaggh, me too! Sorry I can't help though, I knitted maybe a couple of feet before undoing it all. I'm planning to sell it on ebay now...

I hate can can too. Started a scarf but couldn't get on with it at all,
Someone in my knitting group loves working with it and offered to finish it for me.
I am currently knitting a broken rib sweater for my oldest grandson and socks for my SIL (both christmas presents. Also knocked up a quick cowl in ribbon yarn for my MIL last night after she admired mine.Jack of all trades ... Master of none

See Black Sheep for a video tutorial if that will help, the sound is a bit low though. They also have one for Loopy, there's another one here, using less stitches. There are loads of others, so have a look round. I managed to knit a whole loopy scarf during a rugby match, including the break, that meant two hours...so I have a few world cup rugby scarves!!
I am making these to sell at craft fairs, have made 4 loopy, 2 Katia so far, with 4 more Katia to go! I also have some Aldi boucle wool to make scarves and fingerless gloves to match...wish me luck!! This is in addition to all the sewing I am doing to....I must be mad!!
At least it keeps me out of trouble!

Oooh lots of lovely socks everyone! :T
Cuddles - hope your Mum is getting better. x
Could anyone tell me if it's normal for the numbers printed on needles to wear off? I bought a set of the KnitPro needles a short while ago and already the sizing numbers have worn off. It means I've had to keep careful track of them them as I don't have a thingummy that sizes needles. And I after forking out so much money for the set, I don't really want to spend money on one. All my other needles are plain bamboo and still have the numbers but before I complain I want to ask the experts (that's you folks!) if this is something normal. And is there any homemade cheap solution? They are the multicoloured symponie wooden needles. Thanks in advance for any advice.Trying to spend less time on MSE so I can get more done ... it's not going great so far!
Sorry if I don't reply to posts - I'm having MAJOR trouble keeping up these days!

NualaBuala - a needle gauge is only a few pounds, see one here, and will be so useful. Its a must for dpns, as they never have a size on them! I inherited my mum's and both grans' needles, so my guide is an absolute must!! I use it most weeks, despite sorting the needles into size groups

I know it's early, but my MIL is visiting so I'm wrapping their presents so that she can take them back with her.
I have made her a Tawashi and a dishcloth and written this poem so that she knows what it is
I made you a Tawashi, though you may not know the name.
You use it like a scourer, but it isn’t quite the same.
Cos it won’t hurt your fingers, or scratch your precious china,
So hang it with this dishcloth and your kitchen will look finer!
I have also written a poem to go with the socks I've knit
I know just what you’re thinking –
That this present is quite duff.
A pair of socks are boring
And really not enough!
But these are very special
‘Cos I knitted them for you
To warm your ankles and your toes
And they should fit well too!Jack of all trades ... Master of none
