I have asked on the Ravelry Techniques Board, but I'm still confused.
Think it's because of the ribbing.

Have also realised that i may have interpreted an earlier row wrongly.
    Beginning with 62 stitches
K2, P1. square brackets inc kwise in next stitch, P1 square brackets 4 times, inc kwise in next stitch P2 K2, P2 to end
I have done the K2, P1 only once, is that right?

I think that some of the stitches shown in this picture are from this row

Sorry, forgot to say that I love those slippers Orkney!

Are planning on making soles for them to avoid slipping?

I did think about it, but tbh these are just for shoving in my case when we go to visit mum, so I have something to keep my toes warm in the hotel (stopping over on the way) or if it gets chilly. I did think about buying some of that non-slip rubber stuff you can now buy in a tube (I think Hobbycraft had it last year) but we will see!

I've also used King Cole Riot for a hat, it's quite a nice yarn, though I had to frog the hat as I done the decreases wrong lol

I just finished these for twins birthdays, they are also getting some jewellery making stuff.

What brilliant slippers! Don't they shrink when you 'felt' them? Excuse ignorance but I've never come acrss anything like that.

Yes they are meant to shrink, I followed instructions for UK size 5 on the pattern and they started off bigger than hubby's size 11's! You start by washing at 40, then increasing until you hit a temp where they start to shrink (luckily our WM has a pause button). I used two different types of yarn but luckily they played well together!

    Pattern here.

I seem to have inadvertly part felted my first pair of socks, DS2 loved them so much he wore them at a cadet camp from friday until sunday!!! (apparently they were so warm and comfy he didn't want to take them off) I washed them and although they dont seem to have shrunk very much they are less floppy and well felted. What have I done wrong?

Maganan - check the washing instructions on the ball band. Perhaps they were washed on an incorrect setting. I tend to wash all knitting garments inside things. Socks go inside bought socks and large items inside pillow cases, stops any friction in the washing and therefroe prevents felting and bobbling.
