Do you mean wristwarmers, or short finger gloves?

    I did these

Hi Cuddles, I've just found this thread and found your post - it's exactly what I'm looking for! Please could you pm me a pattern? The easier the better, as I'm very much a beginner (can do basic and purl stitch, and that's it!). I saw a pattern in a shop, but all I can rember of it was that I was to knit for 22cm (wasn't going to buy the whole booklet just for wrist warmers, but perhaps should have written it down)!

    Many thanks in advance

    CM

    Hi,
Those wristwarmers ^^^are cables. I have a pattern, but also a much simpler one without cables.

    Wrist Warmers

    DK yarn
    4mm needles
    Cast on 40 stitches
    2 x 2 rib for 16 rows
Knit/purl alternate rows for 20 rows
    2 x 2 rib for 8 rows
    Cast off

If you want a more complicated pattern can you PM me your email address>

Well technically this should be on the crochet thread but just wanted to show you folks what I made today, to take away with me, as it isn't that warm here....lol I started making one hat and now have 3 (two I love, one not so much so might offer to mum- taking her some socks I made too!).
Number 1 (flower was part of pattern design)
    PIC_4882_medium.JPG
Number 2 (initially in cream but started running out of wool, also had to re-do top of this as it was too pointy).
    PIC_4910_medium.JPG
Number 3 (added crochet flower and beads on as thought it needed something nice)
    PIC_4945_medium.JPG
    PIC_4938_medium.JPG

Should really be making the packed lunch but this is more fun!

As far as I understand it, the only difference is in thickness.

The Stitches = 4 inches shows the difference between DK and Aran, so knitting with Aran on the same size needles as DK will result in a bigger tension square (that is your guage)

Guage isn't too important with cushion covers, but if you need it a specific size, take the width in inches and divide by the guage.

So a 20" cushion would need

    5 x 22 stitches in DK = 110
    5 x 18 stitches in Aran = 90

Wow, you've all been busy while I've been gallivanting this weekend.

    Welcome to new people.

Orkney, lovely hats. I knit them for other people, but unfortunately hats that look lovely on DILs etc, make me look like a bag lady. Some unexplainable law of physics I suppose.

Cuddles, lovely gilet. Don't put yourself down re; knitting skills. You go from strength to strength and do stuff I've never done. As we've said before, swearing and unpicking lies behind a lot of my FO's. Stubborness helps as well, which I think you've already discovered.
Well here is the second item from 4 x 100 gms of Mirage:

Summer Flies shawl from Ravelry (|free pattern)
Scarf next to use the rest of the wool.

    Happy knitting xx

Thanks very much for this Cuddles - I see what you mean now - I think. So to make a 20" cushion I would need 110 stitches to cast on in DK or 90 in Aran. Now, I think some of the wool I have is like Rowan Big Wool - but it came in skein & has no label or anything:eek: Should I knit a tension square with it & if so, using what needles please? Will look out my knitting patterns also & see what they say to see if they can be adapted. Sorry to be such a pain, am not very experienced! tried to knit socks last year but gave up as couldn't work out the pattern LOL

No problem sashanut - i'm just learning too.

    Name Big Wool
    Brand Rowan

Weight Super Bulky (5-6 wpi) silk-help-2.png

    Wraps per inch

    Yardage 87 yards (80 meters)

Unit weight 100 grams (3.53 ounces)

    Gauge 8.0 sts = 4 inches

    Needle size US 17 - 19 or 12.75 - 15mm

    Fibers 100% Merino

I've never used Big Wool and the biggest needles I have are 10mm, so if it were me I'd knit a swatch to get my guage.

Are you a member of Ravelry? If not I would suggest joining. It's free and very useful for information about yarns, patterns and techniques.

  • Hi Cuddles

Thanks very much for the simple pattern - I don't think I'm up to anything more complex!

Have got some lovely wool, so they are my next project after I finish the scarf for DH (that's been on the go for 3.5yrs :o).

    Regards

They are lovely hats Orkney Star they look fantastic, the purple is a goregous colour as well.

Have a quick Q, am knitting some blanket squares with an embossed pattern (Its stocking stich but for the embossed bit I'm purling instead of kintting and vice versa if that makes sense) but it doesn't stand out that well. I've done some googling and read about blocking would that help it stand out more?
