They are lovely hats Orkney Star they look fantastic, the purple is a goregous colour as well.
Have a quick Q, am knitting some blanket squares with an embossed pattern (Its stocking stich but for the embossed bit I'm purling instead of kintting and vice versa if that makes sense) but it doesn't stand out that well. I've done some googling and read about blocking would that help it stand out more?
I haven't used this technique, but I know what you mean.
Blocking depends on what your yarn is made of. If I knit with acrylic or a wool/acrylic blend, I do no more than hover a steam iron over a mens hankie over the work, and gently press with my hand.
Is it worth doing a little trial piece with a square of raised stitches in the middle, and then try blocking?0 -
Thanks, I have a small practice piece so I shall give that a go. Just got to remember where I store the iron...0

Have made 2 neckwarmers and matching wrist warmers and am now on a pair of black wristwarmers. They are soo easy, I did the black ones in 2 strands of DK as the tension is pretty close (thanks cuddles) and now Im planning a pink pair for Dd. Will sew the buttons on later and pop them on my blog.:)Clearing the junk to travel light

Look forward to that Ginny.
I have finished a scarf, another dishcloth and more tawashis.
Also bought yarn yesterday for a Boneyard shawl for my Mum and Lacy Karius for my daughter.
Also after any help / advice.
I'm taking part in a craft swap and have to decorate a piece of bunting on a theme every 2 weeks.
First 4 themes are
Christmas Trees
Christmas Stockings
Christmas Puddings
Christmas Gifts.
I'm going to try and knit at least some of them and have found a few things on Ravelry that I may use, but need to scale them down. Have just knitted a Christmas Tree on size 2.5mm needles. Has anyone any ideas or know of any websites or tutorials for very small christmas items?
Would love to try and knit a christmas stocking in miniature and wouldn't need to be double (as in 3 dimensional) just a stocking shape to attach to the bunting.
Thank you in advance.Jack of all trades ... Master of none

Jean Greenhowe has stockings, that you can stuff or leave flat for bunting, free - http://www.jeangreenhowe.com/patterns.html
For a present you could knit an envelope for a flat piece of cardboard, and put ribbon or knitted braid round it.
Mmm..puddings..I'm thinking....0 -
Thanks ELACLA and NJ - both very useful :j
Will post pics of my tree and the stocking I'm trying as soon as they're done.
I have some mini pudding patterns, so have that one covered, but I'm trying to think of a different spin on the presents.
Thinking of doing this as a present sack

I knitted this - http://www.cpu-enterprises.com/sirdar/books/298.htm last year. You can slide-show the individual items. Any of them fit the bill?0 -

Some of those are brilliant.
Also love the Christmas Tree Decorations.
May have to psych myself up to actually pay for patterns
What size are they?
My bunting is a triangle , 8" across the top & 9" deep so need things that fit and are really only 2 dimensional.Jack of all trades ... Master of none

2.5 to 3.5 inches from memory. It is in DIL's loft awaiting Xmas! They used it the other way round to how you usually do Advent Calendars. Started off with it empty, then each morning when they came down, there was another pocket filled. Otherwise you could see all the figures on the first day.
GD liked the robin and the angel best. Because they fly like Buzz Lightyear Nanny. Toy Story obsessed, yes.
