I tried mine today WCS and the ridges work very well and they look so pretty too. The net addition to the dishcloths would work with the tawashi's too I imagine ...am off to find that piece of net thats hanging about in my craft room:pClearing the junk to travel light

Mine are made to match my dishclothes, I use one strand of dishcloth cotton combined with one "strand" of net (a piece of net fabric cut into a continuous strip). I've been thinking of making some for christmas pressies, to go with some tea towels I'm making (navy blue waffle fabric with snowflakes stitched on each end).
WCS
I have a tawashi that I made for myself and I think they are brilliant! Much better and kinder than scourers.
I did buy a big ball of the scratchiest acrylic that I could find to make them though.
They rinse easily and dry quickly. Once a week I throw it in the wash and it strill looks brand new.
Also loving the knitted dishcloths too!

Hi, need some suggestions please.
I'm knitting for my first grandchild who is due in November. Obviously baby things need to be easily washable, but I would rather use wool than the acrylic which seems to be predominant as baby wool.
Can anyone suggest a really nice soft warm pure (or nearly pure) superwash wool please?Oh dear, here we go again.0 -
hello everybody. popping in to ask a question and advice from all you clever ladies
I've been a long time knitter -amongst all my other projects, but just have started a soft toy using circular needles. the main body is no problem and soon got the hang of it BUT on a smaller knit i only have 36 stitches so reckon i'll be needing a smaller circular needle than the 80cm ...BUT what size... will a 40cm be ok or is there smaller ones available. ????????
thanks in advance0 -

Mmm- circulars.
I have a 16" circular that I use for hats, but it won't cope with less than about 30 stitches (depending on the yarn) as they are too stretched.
Think you will have 3 options

thanks cuddles. i have just made it with dpn but would prefer circular to avoid a seam. i've used the magic loop on my 80cm but there was no way it could be done due to the strectch
whats the travelling loop?0 -

No seams with DPNs, so not sure what you mean.

Hya all, been away for nearly three weeks in sunny Scotland - well it was most of the time...honest!!!
Managed to get lots of knitting done - finished another sea-foam scarf, two pairs of socks, one for DH using Regia, reduced in a sale in Jan; the other pair for Dad, using Trekking I got in Stromness while in Orkney a week and a half ago...lovely to knit. Now knitting a second pair for DH using some Fortissima Sokka yarn from the same shop in Stromness, lovely shades of greens with pinks..DH chose it!
I also got some North Ronaldsay aran wool....really lovely, but quite expensiveI've always wanted to knit with this, so got four 130g hanks. Have made two woolly hats so far, DS2 nabbed the first one and we couldn't get him to take it off!!! I wore the second one on Thursday while weeding my dad's garden in Caithness. It was dry and warmish, but very windy, so needed something to keep my hair out of my eyes...and very comfy the hat is too!! I didn't get any finer N-R wool, but been tracking it down on 'tinternet...looks like my favourite wool shop in Leeds Baa Ram Ewe stocks some of the 4-ply, not sure when I am next there...DS2 has had a few rugby camps there in the past...so you never know...it is nearer than Orkney! I could have a more in depth search later and see if any websites in Orkney itself sell it.
I really ought to use up more of the wool I have before getting any more...I will run out of room otherwise...things are getting tight already!! We stopped in at Kincraig Fabrics in Brora on the way north, and got some merino/cashnmere balls, as well as some undyed (and a bit scratchy!) lambswool...I am dyeing some material next week with my quilting group, so might have a go at dyeing some wool too...so watch this space!!
I will post some piccies of my holiday knits once I find my camera and sort out the holiday snaps I have already taken.
So off to work out what I actually have and work out what to do with it....that's what I should so, but will probably sit down with the socks and knit a few inches!!
