Thanks, i'll have a go at the wee scourers, and maybe try one with net too and see which I prefer. They'll be so much prettier for gifts than my square ones!

Hi all:j
Finally found my sock which I abandoned last year - off the needles & in the bottom of the knitting bag. Picked up the stitches & re-did the missing bit - now I'm stuck in the same place as before:mad:
I wonder if any of you ladies could cast your eyes over this please & see if you know what I should do - I'm sure it's simple if you know how, but I can't figure it out. TIA if you can help: I am on the Turn Heel bit, which goes like this: (24 sts on needles)
1st row: K13, S1, K1, psso, K1 turn
2nd row: P4, p2tog, p1, turn
3rd row: K5, s1, k1, psso, k1, turn
4rd row: P6, p2tog, p1, turn
all OK to this point - then
This next bit is the bit I can't get: Cont dec as set to 14 stitches (I now have 20 on needles)
Can anyone just tell me how the next few rows go to get rid of the 6 stitches please? Much appreciated if you can:DNew start JAN15 - NOT BUYING IT 2015 . You are not alone! This was the bit that got me when I started socks.
Patterns vary a bit with how you decrease, but basically it's short rows, and you're bringing in one stitch more from the edge stitches each turn. So, with your pattern:-
Row 5 -k7, S1, K1, psso, K1, turn (19sts)
Row 6 -P8, P2tog, P1, turn (18sts)
Row 7 -K9, S1, K1, psso, K1, turn (17sts)
Row 8 -P10, P2tog, P1, turn (16sts)
Row 9 -K11, S1, K1, psso, K1, turn (15sts)
Row 10 - P12, P2tog, P1 (14sts)0 -
Hello All
I have just picked up some knitting needles after about 20 years.
DB telling me I am going to be an auntie was the inspiration but am nervous about doing anything too adventurous so may be back looking for guidance.
Picked up a pattern at the weekend - simple mosaic tile style cardigan and am halfway up the back already. Hopefully will soon get the speed back up
Regards

I'm finally coming out of lurkdom to post a picture of something I've knitted. I've done it as a link cos the picture is huge. I'm still knitting my socks - I had to start again because my tension in the first one was slacker that the second one and they ended up odd sizes. I'll finish them eventually0

Ooooh pretty gloves PepPop, they're lovely! Yes, maintining even tension can be tough at times...how you feel and where you knit can really affect your tension...honest!
Well, here's a few piccies of what I knitted over the past three weeks. I haven't blocked the scarf, so I'm not showing it, nor the woolly hat that my son nabbed...he loves it!
The ribbed part on the socks looks really tight, but it stretches very well and both my DH and dad love their new socks!! The woolly hat is mine, DS2's one has a diamond pattern...both are in North Ronaldsay wool from Orkney (the sheep live on the insalnd's shore and eat seaweed!!)...wonderful to knit with and wear!!!

I'm knitting the little bootees that some of you are kniting for my baby that's due and have come to the bit where I think I'm shaping the bottom of the foot (unfortunately I'm at work so can't check). The rows contain the abbreviation sk2p and I'm trying to work out exactly what it is I'm supposed to do.
Can anyone who's done these bootees explain to me what I need to do.
Thanks.Did owe £9,951.96

'sk2p' means: slip 1 stitch as if to knit, knit two together, pass slipped stitch over
HTH and good luck.Jack of all trades ... Master of none

Thanks cuddles, I understand that. Might have been clearer if it had said s1, k2tog, psso. Never seen it written sk2p before.Did owe £9,951.96

Many thanks NannyJanny - I think i might even finish this sock:T:TBit short of wool though so I'm hoping I can get another one out of what's left - if not, it's only crofter so I could easily get another ball & it won't look too different:rotfl:New start JAN15 - NOT BUYING IT 2015 .
