I have a collection of knitting patterns and needles (mostly pre-metric) which I am not likely to use again. Does anyone know if they would be of use a Knitting Circle or charity shop?

If so, how do I find any takers (apart from the shops of course)

Thats a lovely idea, could you google local knitting groups in your area? They may have a webpage or at least a phone number/email of the person who runs it? If not try local papers.

do they still teach knitting in schools? I know i did some in school but we are talking 20 years ago! Or how about local hospics? Old peoples homes? Im sure someone would take them off your hands! :D

    Send them to me lol!
Joking aside, how about selling them on ebay?

I've finished my first ever sock!

Used the "humble sock" pattern from ravelry and only did stocking stitch but DS2 loves it and can't wait for the other half of the pair.

Oh well back to the DPN's...............................

My first TAAT Magic loop socks :). Finished this morning. I had a feeling that these would go to mum, as it is they have turned out a bit bigger than my size, so yes they are off to her :).

Loving all the socks and boots being knitted!

I need help, my gran gave me a giant box of knitting needles and I have matched up the large needles however there are about 40 double ended needles that are about half the length of knitting needles. They are different thicknesses but have no numbers on them. What are they and should I keep them???

These sound like double pointed needles, using for knitting socks, hats and other small things. Basically you knit round and round with them, instead of back and forth. You should be able to buy a needle gauge, something like this locally or on amazon/ebay for not very much. That way you can measure size and bundle them up (most patterns call for 4 or 5 of these).
