Baby Blanket
I saw a nice colour combination in a magazine recently, similar to Orkney's suggestions, warm beige, muted green, cream and pale lilac. They do seem to avoid the obvious baby colours nowadays don't they.

Thank you for suggestions, the parents don't know I'm making this for them. I think i'm getting drawn towards brights as baby is due late December, now do I need more wool or use what I've got!!!!0

Well..........worsted is Aran isn't it? Think so. If you use double knit you will probably have to do more squares, as it will come out smaller. How about knitting one square, and then working out measurements you want?.
DIL tells me the smallest blankies she has got are 70cm x 90 cm (I'm about to knit one). They are used in the buggy, and for comfort nestling on the sofa now they are toddlers.0 -
Right decision made - as I have masses of cream Aran (5000g+) I have decided to make an all cream blanket, then if I'm not happy with it I can give it to dd for her dolls and do another in different colours. Thus not spending money and adding to my stash. Many thanks for all your help.0

NJ - I made one of those booties last night and I'm currently doing the second one.
Used 4mm needles and DK and it seems quite big?
What are you using?Jack of all trades ... Master of none

Great, you could always do an edging in another colour if you thought it needed something once finished. Cream is a lovely warm versatile shade though too

Spooky! I was just coming on to post these.
I used 3.5mm and dk. The foot is about 3inches long.
Made the mistake of doing stripes, so had a lot of ends to weave in.
Think they look ok though. I love garter stitch for little things.0 -
