My second knitting project I've done is almost finished, the knitting was mostly OK but the sewing up is a bit dodgy! Also he's armless as I can't work out the pattern instructions for his hands:o

Might have a bit more practice before starting another one.

Is it an online pattern? If so, post a link and someone may be able to help

This is the knitters thread, the charity knitters thread is elsewhere, so while I think it is admirable that anyone will decide to do some charity knitting, no-one should feel bad if they can't/don't want to/have time etc!
When I explained in the charity knitting thread that I was having a break from charity knitting they all understood that family often comes first when time is limited. So basically, don't feel bad. Of course anyone who does decide to knit can feel good about that, iykwim.

    Thank you :)

Unfortuntaly it's not an online pattern, it's just the bit where you divide for the fingers and you have the work split over two needles and have to increase on stiches from one to another. It's probably quite simple, I just get confused on it! Thanks though
  • Had to share some news... I have finally worked out how to knit in the round!! After about a year of trying every few months then throwing across the room!! Very pleased, but a question to save me buying loads of double pointed needles what are the main sizes? I am thinking maybe for gloves, hats etc don't have a specific project in mind but thought would ask before I convice self I HAVE to buy them in each size. And what are best? I had a 5mm plastic set I had free with a magazine whihch arnt very pointy but I don't really like the clink clink of metal goes right through my teeth. What do you find is better wood or plastic? The only problem I can see with wood is that I am bound to sit on them and snap them as soon as I get home. Any tips from my expert knitters greater welcomed. Thank you

Wouldn't call myself expert as regards knitting in the round, but I too have been playing with circulars.
I have looked at many peoples views on which are best, and been left feeling very confused. I think lots of people fall in love with expensive sets without actually knowing what they are like to knit with. I have bought single fixed circs locally as I needed a size for a project. Have got 3.75mm to 4.5mm. Average price has been about £3.
What seems most important to me is the smoothness of the join between cable and point. The Milward ones (metal) have a lumpy join and drive me mad. Prym (wood) are better, but not perfect. The best ones I've found so far are Prym (metal), the join is really smooth (£3 locally). I would choose them again.

I know they say it's cheaper buying a set, but not if you are never going to use all the sizes. If you get to trying knitting on two circs, then you obviously need two the same size. To me it's better to do that by building up what you need.
I'm sure more expert circ knitters can help you, and I too shall learn from their comments!
