Eeek I just started my first pair of socks, and I think I'm in love. Though this should not be a surprise as I must have about 40 pairs of socks anyway, dpn's are not nearly as bad as I thought they would be.
Wooooo hooooo I love socks and I love dpn's for them. Yesterday though I started magic loop with a circular doing TAAT (2 at a time) socks....so far so good. Slightly annoyed though, ordered 3 needles and one came broken!!! E-mailed seller but heard nothing back...they are £5 each so really I want a replacement/refund (without having to send broken one back as with posting it recorded it will cost me even more)....have used the seller before so hopefully they will trust I am not fibbing!Ermutigung wirkt immer besser als Verurteilung.

Cuddles, thats a different pattern to the one nannyjanny posted, and I havent done that one. the other one is all garter stitch and very simple. Yes I do exactly the same pattern but different needles, up or down a couple of sizes works really well and uses very little wool, but you can do them in stripes or blocks of colour. There are some pics of them on my blog. I have even done them in pure cotton for a baby with excema and they cost less than 2.00 in wool.Clearing the junk to travel light

What do you all do when you are knitting so the wool er flows? I tend to throw the ball across the floor then reel it back in so I have a few metres then repeat but it drives me crazy, especially when crocheting as you use wool really fast. Any good types or gadgets? I did see something called swift like upside down umbrella but seems it more for winding wool than for feeding through..if you get what I am talking about.0

I have started taking the wool from the centre of the ball and I find that it runs smoothly most of the time....you have to 'jiggle' round in the centre to get the end but ball can then be put into a plastic bag and away you go!

I am doing two at a time socks just now, from the one big ball of striping wool, I am taking one sock from the centre and one from the outside (so they are fraternal twins) and the one from the inside behaves a lot better!Ermutigung wirkt immer besser als Verurteilung.

Must stop making these now. But there will be more.....
Orkney, hope you get the broken needle sorted.
Thrifty, good luck with the socks. You'll love it.
Cuddles, nearly finished Oh! Baby boots from the link you found. Thank you. Didn't think it was worth knitting them in the round, as there is only a bit of kitchener and one back seam. Will post when done.
Happy knitting and hooking.

Please can you help me, i'm looking at making the dream catcher baby blanket but I am stuck on what kind of wool to use. It asks for worsted weight but I have none. I have lots of dk. Also as I don't know what sex the baby is going to be so was unsure of whether to knit it in pastels or brights. I have started it in white dk, but not sure if its going to be wishy washy. Do I need special baby wool or can I use up my stash. Please help any suggestions would be greatly appreciated (sp). Many thanks.0

Am presuming it is this one ?
TBH it is up to you/the recipient what colours you finally do really, if you are not keen on whites how about cream, warm beige, coffee shades ? I would personally go for muted brights but then I like that sort of thing. If you look through the projects section you will see what other colour combinations people have made successfully! Good luck!Ermutigung wirkt immer besser als Verurteilung.
