Morning everyone. No knitting news but just wanted to have a little moan cos I'm feeling very sorry for myself. I've got viral conjunctivitis in my right eye and boy does it hurt. Can't be on here because looking at the screen is too painful so feel like my right arm has been cut off too! Will knit if I feel like it later, but at the mo don't feel like doing anything, and I would make loads of msitakes anyway to prob have to frog anything i did.
Oh dear, here we go again.

    Ouch jennyjelly - sounds painful.
I had a corneal ulcer last year and couldn't do anything for ages. Hope yours is better soon.

Just finished this for my sister, using some of the vintage mohair I was gifted :money:

Oh JennyJelly, poor you that sounds ouch! I still have my silly cold thing, apparently there is a virus going round with blocked sinuses being a main part- went to pharmacy yesterday and she prescribed me some long lasting decongestants.....they seem to be working a bit, less throbbing now, more dull ache! Meant to say for ages, I just love your knitting police signature line, almost want to nick it lol!
Cuddles, that wee jacket/cardi in mohair is lovely....what a good use for that mohair, and a lovely colour too!
On the knitting front I started these:

Such an easy pattern and am loving the solid yarn for a wee change. Actual pattern has 8 repeats but I thought 6 was more than enough for me! Have one sock 2/3rd done and it is going fairly fast!

Ouch JennyJelly. Hope it doesn't go on too long. (Went to group yesterday, very nice.)

Cuddles, you're putting me to shame. I nearly cast on an Aran cardie for me this morning. I have been studying the pattern intently as it resembles a really old bought cardie I love. But seeing another finished object from you has made me decide to finish off two that only need buttons and loops on one, and two ten inch seams on another. Have a naughty case of cast-on-itus. Must stop it. I can cast on with a clear conscience when I have done my finishing bits.

Then again, a bit of housework wouldn't go amiss......!

Sounds horrid, Jenny. Years ago, as an adult, I had German Measles!! It was generally pretty miserable, but by far the worst thing was the sting in the tail - or rather the eyes. As I was recovering the virus migrated to my eyes and the pain was out of this world. Went to the GP who referred me to the emergency eye clinic. Was given various drops to avoid further infection but it basically had to run its course. I found the best thing was walking in the open air. I think it was probably that it was cool.

It sounds as though yours might feel similar so I do feel for you. Let us know how you get on.

Sorry - not knitting but hope concern for a fellow knitter counts as not too far off-topic!

Castonitis is a very common condition, generally brought on by extended periods of oo'ing and ah'ing at ravelry pages, time spent looking at yarn (and especially by feeling yarn), and particularly when the house needs attention! Don't worry, the cure is simple, keep casting on until the urge to cast on more recedes ;).
I am being good today, dry laundry sorted, washing on line, kitchen blitzed, mince on cooking and so allowed a wee time of knitting while DS plays fuzzy felt at my feet!

More nice socks. Now you've really put me to shame. Housework done already! I have got as far as taking mince out of the freezer, haven't had cottage pie for ages.

I have had my grocery delivery and put all that away. Not rich or anything, just find I spend considerably less:T ordering the food for a fortnight and managing on that whatever happens. Mostly buy the offers on meat, and stock up on the things that complete the meal when they are cheap. I have a very dodgy back as regards carrying any weight, and my little car has been traded in for one suitable for OH to travel to work. So delivery it is. Lugging heavy bags from town on the bus would render me useless for anything else.

    Och no!
I have a sore back too, on and off, so I try to do things when it is less bad. You have to work round it I find. I sometimes think delivery might be the way to go, but up here it isn't the same/not really available, and I am such a control freak I like to choose my own things. Am relying more on DH and DS to help put the things away though as all the bending does kill my back! Cottage pie sounds great....we are just having mince (with carrots, onions, maybe peas) served with mash and cabbage.

    Hi
I wonder if anyone could help me please ?
I'm not very experienced at knitting, I made a few bits for my children when they were babies and now over 15 years later I fancy starting again.
I've been looking for simple knits to get me into it again and have found a baby blanket knitted on 10mm needles which looks lovely and very easy but I'm not sure which wool to use as it's an american pattern that uses Red Heart Baby Clouds and I can't find that here.In the picture it looks lovely and fluffy.
I'm wondering if Sirdar Big Softie would be okay but I'm not sure if it's fluffy enough.
As you can probably tell I haven't really got a clue ! So far I have only managed to knit a very small mouse.
I'd be really grateful for any help you could give me.
    Thank you
    Rac
