Thanks so much for all your kind comments...the pattern is so easy (though a pain if you drop stitches or pull all the stitches off the pin...yes, both happened a few times ).

I got the pattern from Ravelry, here. It is called a dropped stitch scarf, but I like sea foam as a description.

My friend loves the scarf.. it's nice when the recipient so obviously likes and apreciates the work that has gone into making the article.

Now I have to get back to the other one and get it finished by next Thursday. Will post a piccie once I have finished it.

Have a great weekend everyone...got to get lots of gardening done as many of my plants are bursting out of their pots!

    Hi ladies

I am knitting a really basic tea cosy but I just can't figure out what this pattern means... http://myfivesons.blogspot.com/2007/01/tea-cosy.html

Cast on 84 sts, work in basic 1x1 rib for 4 rows okey dokey

Work Rib pattern 40 sts, cast off 4 sts, continue knitting on these 40 sts for 20 rows. Does this mean I am just going back and forth on the same 40 stitches??? Transferring other stitches to a holder?
That's right, only you won't need to transfer them, just keep them on the needle, but don't work then until you need to.

Break yarn and rejoin to other 40 sts and knit for 20 rows as for first half, knit across the first 40sts so there is a toal of 80 sts on needle keeping in rib pattern.
That's OK too...you are making the hole for the handle I suspect, and when you sew it up, you will be leaving a hole for the spout.

Any ideas? Maybe I need some sleep...
When the two sides are the same length, you knit across them all to close the hole, 4 stitches less than at the bottom, this will be the beginning of the narrowing at the top. If I were doing this, I would join a separate thread to the second lot of stitches and knit the two sides at the same time (with different threads), that way it's easier to make sure they are the same length. Don't do this if you think it will confuse you though! Good luck La escocesa

Ah, I see what you mean, so if I attach a new bit of wool after the casted off stitches then I can just keep knitting across and know I'm on the same row on both sides the whole way up. Shall do that! Thanks Keiss :)

Glad your friend liked the scarf - always lovely to know that things are appreciated :)

Love the Gilets, Cuddles. Is the pattern on Ravelry? I like Big Softie. I knitted a muffler thingy in that and it knitted very quickly and was as soft as the name suggests!!

Been a bit out of it for a few days - galloping cystitis!! Getting better now but I have surgery booked in a week or two so I shall have to think of something suitable to take in to hospital.

Lovely knits Cuddles. Isn't it nice having littlies to knit for.

Been out the story a bit with migraine this week. Nearly finished cardie for GD1, and just two seams to do for shrug. Feel I must have a finishing off day this week. Then I'll do battle with the photos!

    Thanks everyone.
Are you feeling better now Susan?
The pattern was in my Mum's Womans Weekly. PM if you want a copy.

NannyJanny, how did the wedding go? Can we see a pic?
Hope you feel better soon. As a migraine sufferer, my heart goes out to you.
