Yes I know it's sideways! It comes out right if you click to enlarge. Even forgot I had finished this, it has just been parked on a stool for ten days. King Cole Chunky, very wearable, although I would have loved pockets. Just pleased I've finished something. For me as well! Oh the guilt. Got a bag of black buttons at the boot sale for 50p.

And Jenny jelly's comment is ........... It's lovely! It looks really warm and comfy but very smart at the same time.

BTW NannyJanny, I've just found out (on Rav) that you are in WsM too, and also thinking of going to the group at the Heritage - see you there sometime!

ETA - just off to Taunton hospital for DIL-to-be's 12 week scan - so excited I'm going to be GrannyJenny!
Oh dear, here we go again.

I thought you might comment on me being a cushion! (Sorry, warped sense of humour).
Do I take it this will be your first grandchild? Welcome to the world of wonderfulness.
Yes I really am going to try and get to the group next week. I just really need to do some house things today. (She says, chatting away on the web).

Yup, first grandchild. They were expecting last year but unfortunately at the 20 week scan we found that the poor little thing had major deformities, including his cerebellum which pointed to severe mental handicap. After a lot of tears (from all of us) they decided a termination was for the best. Although it was an accidental pregnancy (they are only 18 and have nowhere to live!) by this time they were both in full parent mode, so decided to try again. Today's scan was great, everything appears to be ok and he was wriggling like mad!

DS is a huge Bristol Rovers fan and he had asked me to make a blanket in blue & white quarters, but as things turned out the baby was cremated in it. So my first job is to make one for the new baby, but this one will be quite different as I don't want to just do a replacement. Now I know that things are ok (so far) i'm off to buy the wool tomorrow.

Keiss, I've done the 3 for £5 Millie Makes thing as well but haven't had mine yet - is it good?

What an exciting opportunity, teaching knitting etc! You could go in all sorts of directions once you see where the interest lies. I'm so pleased for you, most of us never get the opportunity to make our hobbies pay, so well done. Looking forward to seeing the scarf.
Thanks Jennyjelly - yes I am really enjoying the mag...though have to restrict myself to one article at a time as I have so many things to do atm. :D There is a Mollie Makes website here, which I still haven't investigated properly yet. Spend a large part of yesterday at a quilt exhibition, which was amazing and quite inspirational...I am even going to join the local quilting group this Wednesday evening!!

Been trying to work out what to include in the knitting class programme ...want it to be a good introduction to knitting without being boring. I also want to have a few more complicated designs to hand for those that can already do the basics. I would like to introduce some hand-sewing too...will sound out the possibilities at college later this week.

I have so many ideas for lots of crafts all buzzing round my head at the moment ......... shame I am so busy at work atm! :rotfl:
Hi - liking the look of Mollies Makes magazine

I've done my knitting this weeked - made 2 things - haven't got the hang of putting pics on here, but have put them on my home page if anyone is interestd.
Glad you like the mag Georgiegirl, I am loving it so far!

Managed to start my second seafoam scarf, but not washed and blocked the first one...need to do that soon as I am giving it to my friend on Friday!

Oh Jenny, I do feel for you. My daughter and her boyfriend found themselves in similar circumstances fifteen years ago. She was only 20. They decided to get married and despite our misgivings we supported their decision. Sadly at 22 weeks the membranes broke and at 28 weeks our granddaughter was born. Sadly her lungs were not sufficiently developed and after a long and tough fight and an emotional rollercoaster for all of us, she lost her fight after five and a half months. She was a very brave and a beautiful little girl and we shall always remember her.

Like your daughter and her partner they decided to try again and this time had a healthy baby boy. He is now all but 14 and a super lad. Sadly the relationship didn't last and my daughter has now remarried and had another son - no 3 grandson all but 4 months. No1 grandson keeps in close contact with his Dad and has been lucky in that respect.

Sorry - not knitting related but your message hit home so strongly I had to respond.

Sue, that's so sad, it must have been awful for you all. But I'm really glad there was a happy ending!

    Hi

Can anyone point me in the direction of an easy sock pattern? I've never knitted socks and really fancy giving it a go after seeing some of the gotgeous ones here. I've checked out ravelry but I'm just not sure which pattern would be best for a beginner.

Also, which sock yarns are your favourite?

My current project is a crocheted Super Mario, he is Mario daft! I just started it last night and so far so good, lol! I'm more a knitter than a crocheter so I'm really hoping it turns out ok.
