Cast on something new that inspires you. Keep the socks as inbetweeny projects/few rows here and there.

What seems to inspire me just now is sitting on my fat back end eating sweeties, reading, and yakking on forums !! :( bad me .

And what's wrong with that? We all have "lazy" times when we would rather observe than make the effort to do!

If the urge to pick up your needles strikes again (and I'm sure it will, though probably when you have no time to give in to it!) you'll have loads of ideas all stored up ready to spring into action.

You could always have a go at another craft for a while, like crochet (*ducks to avoid things thrown by the anti-crocheters*). I tend to switch between the two so I never get bored with one. I've been knitting a lot lately and am starting to feel a little hooky urge coming on ....
Oh dear, here we go again.

    I did that! It worked!
Also maybe make small things, I made some hairbands, or you could make whimsical things like mini sock key rings ?

LOL to the idea that there are three OrkneyStars!!! :rotfl:

Lovely bag jennyjelly, might have to have a go sometime (whenever I have some spare time lol!).

Got my scarf finished, now to wash and block it...will post piccies once it's done.

Had an interesting discussion at my college yesterday. I am hunting around for work opportunities as the IT Centre where I work is being closed in July. :(

Met my resource manager, who mentioned that they were looking for someone to hold evening classes on knitting (manily, though may drift into other crafts). Basic stuff mainly, but in the mode of Kirsty Allsop's Homemade Home...funky yet functional. This sounds like a great opportunity, so going to do some research this weekend and get some ideas together to show her next week.

Also, got the first edition of this magazine today, wonderful ideas across lots of crafts...did the 3 for £5 offer, might have to take out a sub at this rate...we'll see how the other ones are first though ;).

    Have a great weekend everyone.

Keiss, I've done the 3 for £5 Millie Makes thing as well but haven't had mine yet - is it good?

What an exciting opportunity, teaching knitting etc! You could go in all sorts of directions once you see where the interest lies. I'm so pleased for you, most of us never get the opportunity to make our hobbies pay, so well done. Looking forward to seeing the scarf.

Orkneystar, meant to say but got sidetracked, LOVE the Noro socks, and looking forward to seeing how the aubergine coloured twisty cably ones work out (which of the three of you are doing those?)

The crazy loopy one that has tried 4 times to do the short row heel (instructions on this pattern a bit odd!)....think I finally understand it!! x
Actually I have just frogged it- I don't like the heel at all and the sock is turning out a funny shape! Can put the trekking XXL to much better use!

Trekking is lovely and it's a shame to use it on something you are not happy with. Looking forward to seeing the replacement.

So sorry for the late reply to the mug hugs questions. Haven't been on the forum for a while. They are from this book and are fairly easy and fun to make :)

    Yes I agree!
The replacement is a simple rib sock. TBH I think I have been swayed seeing all these lovely pictures of lacey socks, and you know what ? I don't have time to spend doing this! I need something I can knit while I play with DS, not end up shutting myself away 'to concentrate'.....plenty time left for all that when he is old enough not to want mum around, for now, I will keep it simple! (Funny I learned this lesson a while back, and seem to be learning it all over again!).
