So, am I going to have to get myself a Scottish Passport then?? Quite an impressive result for the SNP though!
RE MPs...I remember Jo Grimond being Orkney's MP and leader of the Liberals...many, many, many years ago!!!!
Yes OrkneyStar, dropstitch/seafoam are the same I thnk...just different names. Had a pain of a night with it though...kept dropping stitches, wound back more than I knitted!! Serves me right going back to a pattern I haven't knitted for a few weeks, while watching two engrossing TV programmes (The Shadow Line and then Rubicon).
I hope to finish the first scarf tonight. then wind the next hank into a ball to get started with the second scarf.
Have a great weekend everyone.

Had a really busy day at the poll yesterday and knitted a grand total of one bag handle icord and about 1" of circle sock. Gutted!
On the up side, I've finished and felted my Bar Harbour bag today. The stitch definition is almost completely gone, so all that time shaping the shells was wasted. And I do wish I'd missed out the red. Here's a pic :Oh dear, here we go again.0 -
That's beautiful Jenny ~ well done you

I love the bag Jennyjelly. Orkney Star I am still on the first sock of a pair and you've done two pairs at least. Think this could be something to do with OH having been out of work and at home all day. Good news is he has a job to start Monday on a 6 month contract which may lead to longer, fingers crossed.
I hope I shall be able to finish something then, at the moment I seem to do just a bit everyday instead of power knitting through garments. I shall miss his company though. Bless.

thank you all, I've lurking for a while an your combined tips have helped me get to grips with DPN's for a hat. I've started knitting again for the first time since the children were small (lots of rosie and jim jumpers 10 - 15 yrs ago!) I've made 2 shrugs one for me and DD1 liked it so much I had to make her one (these were almost free the yarn was my grandmothers), I'm currently working on the hat (slouchy one for DS2) and cotton hoodie for me, hoping to try some socks too (I'm an optomist!)
Thanks again for the help, tips and inspiration

NannyJanny and JennyJelly you little minxes you: I don't knit that fast tbh. I tend to have more than one pair of socks on the go at a time, knitting first socks and then second, so two seconds might be done in a week, looking like two pairs (but actually only 2 half pairs!- of you look at any of my ravelry projects you can see the start and completed dates to prove this lol). I like to enjoy knitting as well as the FO so wouldn't 'power knit'!! I am enjoying these socks just now, as last pattern attempts didn't work well (colour fighting pattern) and nice when they do work! Remember I have a pre-schooler at home, so much of my time is still taken up by him (he let's me knit while I am with him but I do try less complicated patterns then!). I am amazed at the amount of projects some people have on ravelry (and the expenive yarns)- convinced they must be married to millionaires, have cooks/cleaners/drivers etc and never leave the house!!!!
JennyJelly I love the bag-wish I could make something that nice, well done!
NannyJanny Enjoy having OH around, even if it does stop you knitting as much as you'd like.
