pls could anyone tell me what k2tbl means? does it mean i knit 1 stitch thru the back of the loop ie knit into the back of the stitch, then do the same again, or does it mean i knit 2 together thru the back of the stitch?

also when it comes to doing the fronts, and it says reverse all shapings, how do i do that?

It means knit 2 together thru the back of the stitch.

Reverse all shapings means if on the left front it says knit 2 tog at the beginning of the row, the right side is knit 2 together at the end etc.

  • Hey guys, I've been lurking around this thread for ages, but I'm posting hoping some lovely knitter can help me!

I'm starting a teddy pattern and reading through there's some terminology I don't understand, can someone please explain what I should do?

"...cast on 22 sts. K 10 rows. Cont in garter st and inc 1 st at each end of next row and 6 foll 6th rows. 36 sts."

How do I get from 22 sts to 36? Do I knit the 10 rows, then increase first and last sts of the 11th, 17th, 23rd, 29th, 35th, 41st, 47th rows? Or do I do 12th, 18th etc? Many thanks in advance!

Hi, I wonder if any of you good people could help me out?

I've found a great knitting pattern on line for babies 'denim jeans' knitted from Rowan Denim (sorry, don't know how to direct you to pattern) - can anyone tell me to where I could buy the wool cheaper that this from the Rowan on site store - £3.75 per 50g ball (I will need 3) plus £2+ (not sure how much) postage, which would make them almost £15 to make  These are really cute but pretty expensive to make for a baby!

I've tried my local (market) knitting shops but neither of them sell it, nor could they let me know where I could get it from.

    Thank you.

Rowan Denim is a bit of a difficult one - as you can't substitute ordinary double knitting yarn :(. Denim shrinks when first washed so Rowan patterns take this into account. What you knit will look very big before it's washed, so don't be tempted to rip it back and re-knit in a smaller size or it may not fit once it's washed.

Good luck with finding Denim at a bargain price, it's a lovely hard wearing yarn that fades with age just like real denim.

    Hi,

Knit 10 rows and then at the beginning and end of the next row (row 11) knit twice into the stitch which will increase your stitches by 2. Do this at each end of every following 6th row (rows 17, 23, 29 etc) until you get to 36 stitches.

    Good luck with the Teddy

    Greetings from a first-time poster,

I used to love knitting baby clothes for my nieces and nephews (sadly all in their teens and twenties now so not interested in Christmas jumpers with reindeer knitted into them !)

Does anyone know of any charities or other groups that would welcome cardis, bootees etc ? I've still got some lovely patterns and knitting is so easy in front of the telly at night.

    Thanks

    Linda :j

    Welcome Ericsmum :D

I would contact your local hospital which has a Special Care Baby Unit. They usually are crying out for hats, cardies etc.

    Hello All

I've just been on holiday in Northumberland and while we were there we visited St Abbs just over the Scottish border. There was a gorgeous wool shop there. It sold luxury wools and I was totally blown away. Didn't buy anything as OH was having a fit at the prices but I did get a card with the web address on if anyone is interested.
