I never help people with knitting because I have no idea how to tell somebody something - I'd have to be there beside them to show them. So I'm not being unhelpful, I just havent a clue how to do it !0

To be fair, I'm exactly the same, especially when my dad phones asking how to do something on the computer, I know exactly what to do just can't explain it!!Proud wife to a soldier and mummy to two gorgeous boysDealing with our Debt Barclaycard £2022.98 RBS £1249.86 Next £183.03September Groceries £120/£102.05:( September Packed Lunches 22/6Sealed Pot Challenge #9940 -

Do I do this the same as when I'm changing colour on my striped jumper? Does it not get a bit confusing and messy with loads of balls of wool connected to your knitting?
It depends. How many colours are in use in each row? How many stitches are between each block of the same colour? Sometimes you can use one ball of each colour and strand the yarn across the back (or weave it in), sometimes you can use several strands of yarn rather than balls, sometimes you can do a mixture.0 -
Here is my latest attempt at a beret- in Escape DK- must say am very chuffed with result!
Re the Fireman Sam, sorry I can be no help as I avoid grid patterns when I can! Re the balls of wool, it might make sense to knit with smaller sections of yarn though as I can see balls getting a bit tangled if too many on the go at once!

that's what I thought, I guess there's only one way to find out lol! Will hopefully be making a start on it tomorrow as I've now finished the body for my little one's jumper and waiting for my DPNs to arrive to start on the sleeves so will be off to hobbycraft to get the wool for the fireman sam jumper.Proud wife to a soldier and mummy to two gorgeous boysDealing with our Debt Barclaycard £2022.98 RBS £1249.86 Next £183.03September Groceries £120/£102.05:( September Packed Lunches 22/6Sealed Pot Challenge #9940 -
When I did Fair Isle/Icelandic jumpers I found it easier to knit standing up - also have all the balls of different colours in poly bags at my feet, with the necks sellotaped to just give enough room to get the wool through.0

That's beautiful. Can I ask where you got the pattern from? I've been looking for a good beret pattern for a while0 -

This is what the pattern looks like, not recommending this site, just to show you. It is on ebay too! No doubt you could find one for free but I wanted to purchase a couple of hat patterns recently.Ermutigung wirkt immer besser als Verurteilung.

Love that beret Orkney Star...never seem to get them right, they look ok just not on me, so its my face that's wrong not my knitting!
Good luck with sweater YummyMummy, not really into fair isle, find I have to watch it too much.
If anyone comes upon a pattern for a large reindeer, either on front of a sweater or somewhere else, would you let me know as I seem to be having no luck locating one.
TIA

Incidentally I rippled out my dpn gloves using Happy, as although it knitted DS's stuff really well it was a bit slippy for dpns! Now using some of my new reglia multi.
Am happy too as some of my ebay wool ordered yesterday has come.
Off now to wait for Brandon Flowers on Radio2.
