Jellybeans, the dishcloth was quite ok to make, a 4 row pattern repeated.

Has anyone ever knitted with Sirdar Fizz before? I'm supposed to be making a scarf for a Secret Santa present - well I started last night, and it's a nightmare  Really difficult to knit with (it has all lovely bits coming off it) - does anyone have any tips?Squares knitted for my throw ~ 90 (yes!!! I have finally finished it :rotfl: )Squares made for my patchwork quilt ~ 80 (only the "actual" quilting to do now :rotfl:)0

Sorry Meanmarie - I didn't mean that it sheds - just that the actual yarn has decorative bits coming off from it making it harder to knit a stitch (cos the bits get in the way) - I'm probably not making much sense am ISquares knitted for my throw ~ 90 (yes!!! I'm sure there were a lot of posts about knitted dishcloths on another thread - can't remember which. A website has a feature of different patterned dishcloths. They look lovely.
I'm a bit under the weather today, so I can't summon up the energy to find them.

Keep your tension a little on the loose side - if the stitch on the needle moves freely then it is easier to dig the other needle in to make a new stitch. Again, when you loop the yarn around, don't pull it really tight. Obviously, you don't want to go to extremes and have saggy knitting, but really firm, tight knitting will make life especially difficult when you are using fancy yarns.0 -

I have frozen mohair before as I'm kind of allergic to it and the flyaway bits make me sneeze- it really does work but having never knitted with the fizz so dn't know if it would work for thatI'm going to feed our children non-organic food and with the money saved take them to the zoo - half man half biscuit 20080 -
Hi. I have knitted forever. My latest project is making baby clothes for two young mums-to-be who are expecting their babies any minute.
In case the babies are girls I have completed two very pretty matinee coats with a raised leaf pattern around the skirt, from a pattern recently purchased not one of my old ones.
My SIL expressed her doubts that such things were worn these days. What do other knitters think?
I am frantically trying to complete little boy items while I read this thread.

Bella,
Not sure either but I think that matinee coats are a lovely way to dress a baby so I keep knitting them....think that there is probably a shortage of grannies etc to knit them now and that is why they aren't so often worn...am knitting some at the moment too as friend who doesn't knit is due baby on 26th Dec and DD2 is due on 5th February so hope that they will be worn.
