I would love to have a go at knitting a mohair bolero/shrug to wear to our office xmas party. Does anyone have any ideas, tips? Hopefully a freebie, but anything concidered. I have good knitting skills but not an expert. Sewing up is'nt a strong point either. Thanks in advance.
Prima have some on their website:

Ta for the tips on matinee jackets - my DD2 has 2 friends that are expecting, and I wanted to make a couple for each of them, and cardigans too - the first one due is a girl so I'll know what colours to use! I think they look nice even just worn over a babygrow - well that's what I used to dress mine in if I wasn't very 'organised' that day (well most days) :rotfl:
I've finshed crocheting one shawl and I'm about a quarter of the way through the second one.........shuts eyes and tries to ignore ironing pile.........:j Almost 2 stones gone! :j

Bella, fortunately I got some great links off this forum so I'm halfway through the first one (I'm knitting two - one for each niece) - but thanks for keeping an eye out for me0 -
I've just found these - some things you can knit or crochet with just one skein - ideal for last minute gifts. The first two are instructions and the last is a link to other free patterns. The little bags look lovely - I'm going to have a go.

WHATATWIT - yes, I have! They have loads of great patterns, don't they, and it's so good to get them for FREE! I don't even look at knitting patterns in my local shop now - there are so many freebies on the net.
I've just crocheted a scarf for a teddy to give to my niece for Christmas and I'm working on a knitted waistcoat for it, plus I still have a Mr Bean teddy to sew up, a crochet bracelet to do for my DGD and I found a lovely pattern for a knitted cushion cover that my Mum would have had if I had time to make it. I'll have to do it for Mother's Day instead. All free patterns - apart from the crochet scarf - just one row of DC in two strands of pink worked together. I have about a million patterns I've downloaded - I know I won't live long enough to do them all!

Fortunately, I can't crochet....so that cuts down my options. :rotfl:
I have printed off my next big project....a log pattern scarf from that site although the yarn will be quite expensive....

Hi. Where have all the knitters gone? I guess you're all too busy with last minute pressies to post on here. Just thought I'd bump you up a bit.
I've been busy too with my baby knitting. I now have two matinee coats, bonnets and bootees sets almost done, just a bit of last minute sewing up to do.
In case the babies are boys, I have one jacket complete except for buttons and one still on the pins.
The one waiting for it's buttons happened a bit of a disaster. Last week I was sitting up into the wee small hours to get it done. It is knitted in Sirdar Confetti (like snowflake with different coloured bits in) no trouble knitting it but picking up the bands with DK proved an absolute nightmare as there just don't seem to be enough rows of knitting to make the picked up stitches into. The end result was a bit loopy looking on the picking up so I oversewed it on the inside to neaten it and make sure the stitches were secure.
When I had finished it, I layed it out to admire my handiwork and Oooops -
no buttonholes. That'll teach me to knit when I am half asleep. No way could I undo it as the bands are now riveted on. I'm thinking that I will just sew the buttons on and poke them through the knitting. Has anyone ever done this? At least this way I can sew them on either side and it will do for either a girl or a boy, that's why it is still pending.
Not much time now, one baby is due tomorrow and the other any time now.
Happy knitting everyone,
