    Hmm favourite sock patterns...I can knit a plain, cuff down, stockinette sock without a pattern now as I've knit quite a few pairs but I started with a free pattern I got with a ball of King Cole Zig Zag sock yarn. A favourite is always Silver's Sock Class (google it) for a basic, beginner sock with lots of pictures to help you through the process.

    I've knit a few pairs of fancier socks now and my favourite pattern was one called Monkey by Cookie A, it was in the free on-line knitting magazine Knitty, you should find it if you google Monkey Cookie A :)

    I am working on my husband's sock, so far my head hasn't exploded but I'm sorely tempted by the lacy scarf I'm knitting for MiL which is a more interesting project to work on. I will stick with the sock though as DH has been whinging!

    My grand daughter is knitting them, they look a lot neater on your feet than they do here.

    I luv ;
    'em will have to have a go, just like granny used to wear!!!

    Could you stitch something onto the sole to make them longer wearing? I used to make baby sleepsuits with feet in and made the soles out of some sort of plastic, its a long time ago now cannot remember just how I did it, I know I just used a pj pattern that had feet in, joined the top and bottom together and put a zip in down the front.

    I think you can buy stick on soles or else stick on suede-y bits ? Lambanana rather you than me with lace. I HATE lace. I'd go insane fast .

    Very quick and easy slippers for all the family for xmas - Nuala these are IRISH SLIPPERS lol !

    These slippers look great, I will definitely be knitting them. My feet are always cold, in the winter I wear slippers in a larger size size to make room for 2/3 pairs of socks underneath !!!

    I have just bought a ticket for the Ravelry knitting weekend at Stirling Uni on Saturday. I have also paid to attend the speed knitting course - not that I want to knit faster but seemingly it helps wear and tear on the joints. I have a problem with my right shoulder and dread ever having to give up knitting because of it.

    Happy knitting

    Ginny, I am so excited about it, its sad LOL! Getting a train for the first time in about 30 years ! Then getting let loose in a hall full of wool...........purple wool,green wool, red wine burgundy wool, black wool.... soft warm lovely wool...... AND I got some pocket money to spend as well !:j:j:j
    There's a cafe with seats in the hall, and I'm going from bus to train to car, not much walking. And if I'm shattered after it then it will be worth it :D
