HERE. Ignore the bathing suit or you'll start howling and be too weak to knit. The socks under it are fantastic, husband loves them. But dont do them so long in the leg, they dont need that length it just wastes wool0 -
I have to say I tried these socks and they came out horrible and shapeless, very clumpy and home made looking. The two needle pattern I have is much slimmer and easy to follow..I jsut need to go and find it though eh !

isnt some of the stuff fabulous ?
Those are beautiful patterns, very victorian style and such a range of sizes!Clearing the junk to travel light
Saving every single penny.
I will get my caravan0 -
I have figured out my issue and need help how to overcome. I cast on fine and tighten the wool enough to stay on the needle but do not over tighten then knit the first row. By the time I get to the second row the wool on the needle has become impossibly tight, so I can not get the needles through the loops and cannot knit any more. I have tried different wools (different thickness) and always get the same issue. What am I doing wrong?0

I've had the same problem before and the solution for me was to RELAX! I can't knit if I'm uptight, stressed or cross as it totally screws up my tension. I tend to cast on using one size bigger needle otherwise trying to keep the stitches loose enough means the edge is uneven, but you say the problem is on your second row. I don't know how long you've been knitting? You may find things improve as your technique becomes more natural.
Mind you, I'm still not very consistant and I've been knitting on and off since I was a child (over 30 years  can you tell I have a birthday fast approaching :rotfl:) That's why I prefer to avoid plain rib or stocking stitch, a pattern hides any uneven-ness.
On another note, I have finished my first ever socks. Admittedly, not the most elegant but they fit and they can only get better next time!

Gorgeous cardigans, I love the fact that they're fitted - makes them much more elegant.
I need to decide what to start next - socks, Christmas hats for the children or something for me...

Hello,
Ive been lurking for a while now but have never posted. Following on from the link with vintage patterns for men, I was looking for ideas on what I could knit for OH for christmas!
So far I'm planning on a knitted tie and a checkers set but was wondering if there were any other ideas. He wont wear knitted socks and a jumper is too big (I'm a lazy knitter..)
I was thinking about a scarf but I cant think of when hes ever even worn a scarf before...
any ideas? He's mid 20s if that helps

Socks, always socks, everyone should be knitting socks! They should be socks for you as well ASC meeting the possible ideas of socks or something for yourself
I've finally started on DH's second sock (the first one was knit back in May!) and have almost finished the ribbing, I'm hoping to get it done quickly as it's just plain stockinette but the boredom may just make my head explode!Official DFW Nerd Club - Member #398 - Proud To Be Dealing With My Debts :T
