Right, I have found a pattern on the internet, have got the needles and the wool already. The pattern I have found you use "normal" needles (not double pointed) so I am all set to go. Will give it a try tonight as ds2 is waiting to go to the park. Will keep you posted0

I haven't been knitting that long (my mum taught me when I was little but I wasn't very interested so taught myself as an adult two years ago) and I knit my first pair of socks on 4 needles when I'd been knitting less than a year! You only use 2 needles at a time whilst the others just hold the out of use stitches so it's no harder than knitting on two apart from the first few rounds which are a bit fiddly. The best bit is there's hardly any purling as stocking stitch in the round is knit every row
I finished the cardigan for my cousin's baby
The last cm of the collar is plain white because I ran out of yarn
I'm now working on a scarf for my MiL for that thing in December but my DH is nagging for me to finish a pair of socks I started for him!Official DFW Nerd Club - Member #398 - Proud To Be Dealing With My Debts :T

Currently awaiting the outcome of a PPI claim which may bring forward my DFD, fingers and toes crossed!0 -
BBpie, there is a great vintage WW2 pattern that I got off somebody on Ravelry, mens socks on two needles. You knit the sole separate from the top of the instep, and join along the sides of the foot. My OH loves these socks best, because they have a very slim elegant fit. Very fast pattern.0

Just wondering if anyone can help:
I've done so well on my first cardigan - with the button holes and pockets but i've now reached a stumbling block with the sleeves. Can someone translate the following for me:
I currently have 23 sts on the needle and I've hightlighted the figures I have to follow for size required.
Inc 1st at each end of next and foll 4 [5 : 2: 4: 9: 2] 10th [10th: 8th : 8th : 8th] rows. 33 [35: 31: 38: 46: 34] sts, then foll 0 [0 : 4: 1: 0: 7] 0 [0: 10th : 12th: 0 : 8th] rows. 33 [35 : 39 : 40 : 46 : 48] sts
I've posted this as a seperate thread but unfortunately haven't had a respnse0 -

I can't see any highlighting, but if you were following the smallest size, here's the step-by-step:
increase 1 stitch at each end of the next row
do the same at each end of the 10th row after that
do the same at each end of the 20th row (i.e. another 10 rows further on)
do the same at each end of the 30th row
do the same at each end of the 40th row (i.e. the 4th 10th row)
The next bit has 0, so doesn't apply to the smallest size.
You will have increased 10 stitches (one at each end, five times) and will have 33 stitches.
Does that help?
Or if you're doing the second size, you'll increase at each end of the next row, the 10th row, the 20th row, the 30th row, the 40th row and the 50th row, and you'll have 35 stitches.0 -
