Karmacookie - Ooooh found them yes. I would email her and ask, because these might be on two needles. She's very nice and has answered me when I've had a query. :)
I have patterns for slippers on two needles but not felted.
  • Thanks to Littlebean for starting this thread.

I go through phases of knitting, knitting, knitting and phases of reading, reading, reading. I've yet to find a means of doing both at once (I know audiobooks are the obvious solution but tend to knit with the TV on instead).

I've been knitting for a few years but am still really a beginner as I'm not very adventurous. I mostly knit blankies (cat, baby, or bedspread-type things) but am working on an Aestlight Shawl at the moment (with assistance from DM).

NualaBuala - I have a full set of non-branded bamboo circulars from eBay and have also bought individual non-branded bamboo circs from eBay or IRL suppliers and have never encountered splinters. I think I'd send them back, if I were you.

drinkupretty - Your counting problems sound like my counting problems of yesterday evening! I took a break and it counte

Thanks for the advice folks. Unfortunately I've used them but I will contact the seller anyway I think. It was a set of 5 needles and one splintered (picked the bit of wood out of the wool) another is quite rough at the end. Also the fine sock wool is catching on the engraving on the side of the needles which is a bit annoying. I had already left positive feedback so this will be a real test of how good the seller is!

To post a link, click the little icon which looks like a couple of chain-links in front of a globe.

The link for the Two-Needle Socks is here - I doubt I'll ever knit them though, as I'll do almost anything to avoid seams LOL

Yippee! :j The Ebay seller (adamventure) was great - no quibble, just issued a full refund straight away! I love excellent customer service!

So I will soon be back knitting socks. :)

The entrelac shawl died a death. I'd used a pattern for different wool (I was using up some I already had) it was coming out too narrow, so I'd doubled the width. I thought this was working but then realised over the weekend it really wasn't. Figured there was no point continuing to knit because I wouldn't like the finished item.

Still, glass half full and all that...it got me back into knitting, I've learnt how to do entrelac, and I can now try and find another shawl pattern on the internet.

I've moved on. Reading past posts, some of you were knitting squares to put together to make blankets. It gave me an idea and now I've started on Afghan squares (free patterns found on Ravelry!) to make a blanket for my sister for Christmas. Probably (she's a little awkward with presents). It's nice because I can do each square fairly quickly and see progress, and because each square is different it's a nice bit of variety. I've finished the first square and am about halfway through the second. I'm having a bit of trouble matching up patterns that are a) the right size and b) I think my sister will like, but I'm feeling very positive.

But I have another question. :) I read on here about bamboo needles and just thought the metal ones I had were fine. Then I found some old plastic type needles in the bottom of my box. After knitting with them, I realised how much my metal needles actually hurt! So I'm thinking of getting some bamboo ones. I see in the past, when people have asked where to get them there have been recommendations of Ebay. I just wondered whether anyone knew any sellers that were particularly good, or even any to avoid. Ebay scares me a little. Well, a lot.

Jeanie, awww, sorry to hear about your shawl but you're being very philosophical about it. I love bamboo needles, I find them more comfortable. I can't fault the seller I used on Ebay http://stores.ebay.co.uk/adamventure. I got a pack of 5 DPNs and they were damaged - got a refund without any problem. I'm not sure if it was just my needles or if it's a bad brand. Also, I think I saw they do free P&P in the UK - it was cheap postage to me in Ireland (hate when Ebay sellers bump up P&P).

I have to say I tried these socks and they came out horrible and shapeless, very clumpy and home made looking. The two needle pattern I have is much slimmer and easy to follow..I jsut need to go and find it though eh !
