Hi everyone, just bumping this up as I have missed reading it.
A while back I announced that I was to become a gran and was looking forward to knitting baby clothes again. Well, I have finished 5 cardigans, 1 shawl necked jumper, 2 pairs bootees, 2 helmets (going to be a boy) and a pram blanket. I am just starting a 10" teddy that will have an outfit to co-ordinate with the pram blanket. All knitting is in white/blue/green/ lemon so will look lovely as a gift.
Lastly I have a largish basket and will line it with cream padded broderie anglais material and fill with knitted things and baby toiletries.
Getting excited now as baby is due 4th August !!!Debt free - Mortgage free - Work free ( in that order)

Having just about finished my second wrap of the year I fancy a new challenge and am going to move onto a jumper for me. Last time I knitted one it worked up too big width wise, could someone let me know where to measure myself to get the right chest measurements. Thanks.0

Usually I measure a cardigan/jumper that fits me perfectly (a couple of inches under the armhole) then knit a 4" tension square and work out the sizing from there.
Lynseydee, yes it is my first grandchild so I am really excited. I am getting a bit fed up knitting the baby sizes so I bought some chunky wool today to knit some scarves for xmas presents, then I shall get back to the small sizes again.
Luckily my DIL loves handknits for babies.Debt free - Mortgage free - Work free ( in that order)

Hi all
I've just found a pattern for a really nice jumper that I thought I would knit for autumn, but the wool is way more than I want to pay. The pattern calls for a total of 18 50g balls of Rowan Cotton Glace, which at £3.50-4 odd a ball = £60 or £70!!
Anyone know of any good alternatives to the Cotton Glace?0 -
Cotton Glace is a little bit bigger then DK, so I would get a double knit yarn that you love (a cotton is a heavy yarn, and will give better drape, so if that is the look you are going for, stick with cotton or a cotton blend), and then check your guage, increasing needle size if you need to.
http://www.kempswoolshop.com/ always have a really good clearance section, and currently have some really nice cottons.
Good luck!0 -
I'm looking for Christmas picture knit patterns for childrens jumpers but am struggling to find any, can anyone help?0
