    Hi everyone

I'm a lapsed knitter/crocheter/cross-stitcher/embroider/dress-maker/painter, etc., in fact anything crafty apart from cards. Now finished work, may just find some time (now and again) to do some of my favourite hobbies again (if I get my butt off here that is). However, I could not bear to part with my patterns, etc., so they are sitting in the loft. We need to get in there to sort it out, and so will try to get them down and digitise them. Certainly loads of 70's/80's stuff, many from magazines so a bit different from the standard patterns. Keep nagging me folks, and I will see what I can find for your all.

    Hi all,

I am not a very experienced knitter either! I'm suffering with depression and have just moved house, so I thought I need to do something - so when I was in Wilkinsons last Monday I bought 3 balls of chenille type wool and some 4.5cms needles.

Tuesday night I decided to knit DD a scarf so did about 10 rows, then for the next 2 nights I just sat knitting wtching the tv for a couple of hours, then Friday am DD was wearing her scarf and loves it!

I found it very therapeutic, but would now like to try something different, does anyone have any ideas for something easy please?

try this site for lots of funky things to knit - all with an 'easiness' rating.
  • I am surprised how long this thread is and i have never seen it before!!!

My gran (81) knits/crochets blankets for charity (77 so far this year) and is ever grateful for left over remenants of wool. I know as this is mse that there is probably very little leftovers :) but if anybody would be willing to send them to her we would be very grateful (just pm me if you could possibly help at all)

To be honest what with that and her dog, i think thats all she does besides her weekly visit from her family (we wish we could visit more! when we do she has to put those blankets down) I feel really proud to have her as my grandma! to think of all the people who benefit from her blankets! she went out and purchased the wool for the blankets she made for St Johns Ambulance but as much as she loves making them she cant afford to buy all the wool for all of them.

If anyone can help please let us know! If not dont worry and thanks for reading my post :) happy knitting!
finally debt free and want to keep it that way!!

Hi homealone, It was me who knitted a father christmas and I am so proud of him. I've just finished doing my second for my niece but it doesnt seem as good as the first, although I am not sure with the excitement of the first one if that is what made if 'feel' so good. I used a Jean Greenhowe pattern from a booklet I got off ebay. In the booklet are patterns for everything christmassy..... stockings, reindeer, polar bears, mr and mrs claus, mr and mrs snowman, holly and berries, oh the list is endless.
There are also mini santas, snowmen, etc
Hope this helps and good luck, I am a very basic knitter so they are quite simple to do :j
Just thinking I could maybe scan and email the pattern (unoffically of course) if you wanted to get started knitting whilst waiting to buy the pattern, just pm me

This is a great idea, and I'm going to do a few now that I've sent off my Innocent hats! I couldn't find an address to send the squares to, so in case anybody else has the same problem, this is it:

hi Kika, have a look on e-bay, from wool shops, they are quite expensive, but I have bought some bamboo circular ones on e-bay that worked out very cheap..they were from a UK seller, not one of the HK ones.....Bamboo crafts and fripperies rings a bell for the name of his shop.

Finallydebtfree.....well done to your Gran for all her hard work.

Why not put up a request on Freecycle for wool....or....see if the local paper will do a piece on her, they could maybe ask for wool too, lots of folk do seem to have oddments.
