i got carried away recently by poundstrecters offer of chenille wool for a pound and bought loads. have not found many patterns needing chenille wool that are very nice. have some gloves and scarves but would love to see any you may have. i have searched all the freebie pattern sites. any suggestions?

Don't forget that you can use any pattern which calls for the same needle size as that printed on the chenille ball band (the largest size needle on the ball band should be same as the needle size used for the main body of the work in the pattern)

Hi, SNAP !!! I bought a load of chenille wool and then found that the shops do not sell chenille patterns anymore. I eventually found patterns on ebay and they were very cheap. I still have the search saved and there are patterns on there at the moment.

    Hope this helps.

    Hi

I just wanted to share this pattern with you all. It made me laugh. I haven't made it yet - but I have a toddler friend who would love it. I hope I have time before christmas to fit it in.

  • Thanks for this Peem. My youngest nephew will love one (or two if I have the time) for Christmas. Great post.

Try some of the charity shops in your neighbourhood - they often have patterns lying around at the back of the shops and sometimes they are quite old patterns in unusual types of yarns. I know that all my local ones have lots of patterns but you just never know what you'll find in there.
  • Has anyone used Japanese knitting patterns? They look quite intriguing with their graphic layouts and I'm very fascinated by them - but the practicalities of using them?

I think I will have a go in the next few weeks but has anyone any hints or tips?

    Hi All
It's been a while since I posted on this thread, and I can't believe how far it's moved...11 pages!!

Anyhow, I've read how much everyone has been doing - I also have a Jean Greenhowe Santa, which I knitted over 10 years ago. He's still going strong and comes out every year, although I think an over-excited toddler might lead to his demise!

On the needles at the moment is a jumper in Sirdar Peru, for me - thought it was time I did something for myself :p, and the continuing saga of the pirate toy for DD Christmas present. I have managed to (finally) finish the scarf for MILs Chrimbo pressie...I've only been knitting it since February... and all bar the sewing, DD will be wearing a Thomas the Tank Engine jumper.

I haven't seen Japenese patterns, Mum on a Mission, but I'll have a google in a moment...sounds intriguing!

Penelope Penguin: I've been looking for a Shreddies pattern, too, but no luck. I tried the knitted by nannas site, and had a bit of a google, but have not found anything yet. I was thinking along the lines of basket stitch and brown wool, but haven't gone any further than that.

I've also managed to acquire a Bond Classic knitting machine, but no patterns....I don't mind using it for scarves or blankets, but would be interested to try out other things. If anyone has any suggestions or where to go to look, I'd be grateful - although all I've found so far is 80's fashion...

    Cheers m'dears
