    Hi All
I've also managed to acquire a Bond Classic knitting machine, but no patterns....I don't mind using it for scarves or blankets, but would be interested to try out other things. If anyone has any suggestions or where to go to look, I'd be grateful - although all I've found so far is 80's fashion...

    Cheers m'dears

Snap up those 80's fashions - you may be horrified now but all the signs are that they are on the way back!

When I think back to the hideous things I used to wear in the name of fashion I want to hide away...:p

Has anyone used Japanese knitting patterns? They look quite intriguing with their graphic layouts and I'm very fascinated by them - but the practicalities of using them?

I think I will have a go in the next few weeks but has anyone any hints or tips?

    Moam

I've never seen any of these, but they sound very interesting. Did you find them online or just happen to have some?
  • I've been asked to do some knitting and whilst googling about I came across these (http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=120182955762&ssPageName=STRK:MEWA:IT&ih=002)

Scroll down and you can see the actual patterns in the book - so then I looked around more and now I defintely want to see if I can use their style of patterns.

Although no one can go back and make a brand new start, anyone can start from now and make a brand new ending.... life is a WIP.

Try some of the charity shops in your neighbourhood - they often have patterns lying around at the back of the shops and sometimes they are quite old patterns in unusual types of yarns. I know that all my local ones have lo
ts of patterns but you just never know what you'll find in there.

thanks, have tried this before when hoping to find some wool or needles but either i am beaten to it or they just never get given any???
  • Hi,
I am not a very experienced knitter but I am wanting to knit a scarf, please don't laugh you experinced knitters, I saw one in acessorise for £22 it was just plain and purl knitting and I want to make one for myself. I have some wool and some 4.5 mm needles but I don't know what to do. I know I need to cast on etc. but whenever I try to knit a straight line ie a scarf edge it goes all wobbly!! What's the secret? Please help I really want to crack this.

It's shocking some of the prices they charge for simple knitted things. There's some great knitting videos here which show the basics, including casting on. I think the first few times you knit, things can go a bit wobbly whilst you settle into it, but persevere and it will get better - it's often just a case of sorting your tension out.

The important thing to remember is that even if your scarf edge is a bit wobbly, it's something you've made and should be proud of (and you've saved £22 as well!).

Let us know how you get on

    Hi all,

I am not a very experienced knitter either! I'm suffering with depression and have just moved house, so I thought I need to do something - so when I was in Wilkinsons last Monday I bought 3 balls of chenille type wool and some 4.5cms needles.

Tuesday night I decided to knit DD a scarf so did about 10 rows, then for the next 2 nights I just sat knitting wtching the tv for a couple of hours, then Friday am DD was wearing her scarf and loves it!

I found it very therapeutic, but would now like to try something different, does anyone have any ideas for something easy please?

My DD is asking for me to knit her some cakes and a doughnut  Does anyone have patterns for them? ...

PP, https://www.jeangreenhowe.com - have free patterns - look for tea party treats and tea party treats2 - they're patterns for sandwiches, cakes, sausages and gherkins :D
... don't throw the string away. You always need string! :D
