I think I'll reserve judgement on the service from readicut and have just placed an order for 2 of their lucky dips. Some Sirdar Click DK and I think it was the Snuggly one too.
I think the problem with the moonglow offer was that after the offer was posted on here everyone seemed to order it and they probably weren't expecting to be inundated so thought the best thing to do was to send out an alternative (despite not being a like for like).
Feel free to order any of the lucky dips I have mentioned above as I have already placed my order :rotfl:
Good luck, my first lucky dip was for Moonglow, but the second was for a completely different one, and they couldn't supply that one either
They still can't find the order I returned on 12/3You're only young once, but you can be immature forever0 -
Please can anyone shed any light on this? I have tried the third proper row of the pattern and ripped it back several times now. I’m almost sure I’m not creating or dropping stitches I shouldn’t but can’t get the stitches to add up properly. Have checked the pattern and I think to do what it says, I need 99 stitches however, it tells me to have 96 stitches at the start of the row.
K3, (k2tog, yfwd) twice, *k6, (k2tog, yfwd) twice, * rep from * to * 3 times, k8, (yfwd, s1, k1, psso) twice, **k6, (yfwd, s1, k1, psso) twice, ** rep from ** to ** 3 times
I’m tempted to just knit the odd stitch that I end up with at the end of the row but because it’s quite a distinctive holey pattern, I’m worried it will throw the rest of it out.
Is it me or them?
Thankyou for looking
I've looked and looked at this - can't figure it out:o . Do they perhaps mean that you are supposed to end up with 99 stitches at the end of the row, taking into account the yfwds (e.g. yarn over)?? Or, do they have a website you can look at for Pattern Corrections?:A FLY FIRST, KNIT LATER :A0 -
Hi blueberrypie - thanks for your reply-the pattern is cast on 96 stitches and no increases or decreases except those to create the holes in the pattern. I start off the row with 96 as I'm supposed to so as you say am 3 stitches short to finish as the pattern says. I thought I would try and do as much of the pattern and stop when I ran out of stitches but end up with the odd stitch that I mentioned earlier. Spent ages on it last night!
You've maybe figured it out by now, but if not, do you want to post the first two rows of the pattern? There might be something there that's misled you.0 -
Yes, I hate the sewing part - I'm not very good at it really and sometimes have to undo and start again. Mum's the same, she's always after someone to make up her jumpers!
What I usually do to set the sleeves in is to fold in half to find the middle, then pin the fold to the shoulder seam. In my case there's always (quite) a bit of easing to do to make it fitso I pin the whole lot together before sewing.
I've got loads on the go at the moment. Scarf for MIL xmas pressie, Thomas the Tank Engine jumper for DD, toy pirate for DD xmas pressie, and the innocent smoothie hats. I'm making some headway with all of them, but I'm a bit bored with the scarf now...it's a patterned one with all sorts of things, bobbles, lacework, etc, etc, and I've only got about 90 rows to go. I almost can't bear to pick it up at the moment. (MIL had better be gratefu l:p).
At least the smoothie hats take hardly any time...mum's doing some too and apparently she can make one from start to finish in 9 minutes...!!! Wish I could knit that fast.

Hi blueberrypie and zcc
Have continued looking at the pattern off and on but am becoming more sure it's wrong. the pattern is as follows:
Cast on 96
4 rows k
1st row of pattern:
k3, (k2tog,yfwd) 1 time, *k6, (k2tog, yfwd) twice, * rep from * to * 3 times, k6, **(yfwd, s1,k1, psso) twice, k6**, rep from ** to ** 3 times, (yfwd, s1, k1, psso) 1 time, k3
Second row purl and 3rd row as above.
The pattern fits in fine in the first row, just goes pear shaped for the third!
Thank you for looking0 -

Yes, I think there's an error somewhere.
Can you point us in the direction of the pattern? (Is it one of the Sirdar patterns on the Readicut site? If so, which one?) Seeing how it's meant to look might let us figure out what you're supposed to do.
Can you type in the directions for row 5 of the pattern? There might be a pattern to the pattern, if you see what I mean.0 -
Thankyou for your trouble blueberrypie!
Pattern not showing on readicut site though it came free with yarn from them. Have found it here - http://www.mcadirect.com/shop/sirdar-pattern-8650-bolero-in-washnwear-dk-p-1014.html When you enlarge the pic, you can see that the holes in the pattern sort of zig zag all the way up.0 -

Yep.
If you look at row 5 and row 7, you'll see that the holes (made by your yfwd or sl1) "move" across by one stitch each time - but following your instructions for row 3 puts each hole directly above the one below. So figure out which way they're supposed to be "moving" (using row 5 and row 7) and you should be able to adjust row 3 - you will need to start the "holey" bit of the pattern one stitch earlier or later than it says.
Remember to do the same for all the pattern repeats as you move up your work.
Hope that's clear; I'm asleep on my feet here, so signing off for the night. Good luck :-)0 -
Hey everyone
I'm not sure whether this has been posted already as I can't knit to save my life and haven't popped in before, but I remember seeing the thread. I'm planning to take my parents to the V&A Museum and was on the website and there's a whole knitting section with some free patterns and lots of inspiration. I'm sure you clever folks would know what to do with them! Hope someone finds it useful...
