I don't know about arthritis in the neck, but I read somewhere about knitting needles specifically designed for use by arthritis sufferers. I'll look through my stack of magazines, and re-post if I can find it - although I am sure someone on here will be able tohelp!
Good luck, and welcome back to knitting!
It was probably Bryspun or Quills you read about. They're made from a casein-based plastic (most plastics are petroleum-based) and they are lovely and "warm" to knit with - not sweaty-warm like metal needles can be, but soothing-warm. They're also slightly flexible, but it's not at all like knitting with ordinary plastic needles.
Bamboo needles are also often recommended for arthritis sufferers, but every comparison I've read seems to favour the casein needles. I've used bamboo for years, but bought some Quills dpns a few months ago and absolutely love using them.
The Woolly Workshop carries both, I think.0 -

Bought a set of bamboo needles on ebay for about £10 (including delivery from Hong Kong) - 10 inch in length. Lovely and light. My Mum has just started using them and loves them too.
Thanks for advice, maybe i need to look at my posture etc.
I got some bamboo needles from ebay too & i love them :T0 -
The only problem I have with some of my bamboo needles is that they get bent by the weight of the fabric you're trying to knit. I broke my 3.25mm needles0

I suffer from this too, but I find that a wheat bag around my neck helps a lot. I just wish it helped with my fingers!

Good luck to anyone still waiting for the Patons, Moonglow from Readicut. Received my delivery this morning, and they have substituted it again, this time with Stylecraft Raffia chunky.
They have charged £7.92 plus VAT and delivery (no mention of my 10% discount), and when I phoned to check why they haven't credited me with my last return, they can't find any trace of having received it back :mad:You're only young once, but you can be immature forever0 -

Me too! What do you think to the raffia? I'm in 2 minds whether or not to send it back. I have loads as I ordered 2 lots. I don't think I'll order from these again, the p&p is too high and it looks like they send you anything, not what you ordered.Save £12k in 2012 no.49 £10,250/£12,000

I'm not sure, I got the conker brown so at least the colour is OK, not like that eyelash stuff they sent last time.
I quite like the jacket with a tie front, so might keep it and knit that.
I certainly won't be ordering off them again. I'll stick to Diannes Knitting Yarns, their service was fabulous, and I got exactly what I ordered :TYou're only young once, but you can be immature forever0 -
Knitting in the round is fun - and nothing to be scared of! Give it a go! I have only recently (September 08) taken up knitting (I learnt as a child, but then stopped) and love it. Only problem is now I can't stop knitting socks....
There are lots of tea cosy patterns out there. I found this site:
http://www.knittingpatterncentral.com/directory/cozies.php
or Ravelry - there are some fabulously funky ones available for free there - I've just looked, and am off to knit the Rosie Posie Tea Cosie!!!:D
Thanks I'm going to have a go at a stripy tea cozy - it seems nice and easy!0 -
Well, up to now - touch wood - i`ve never had any problems with redicut, am i just lucky?0
