If it is any help - when I looked yesterday http://www.kempswoolshop.com/wool_specials.aspx had Moon Glow for 69p a ball. Having knit with Raffia I think it is a pretty cheap substitution IMHO
    .
For those with arthritis I find Capsaicin cream available on prescription in different strengths helps me - this isn't medical advice as I know that isn't allowed - it's just what helps me ;).

I also got a delivery of Raffia in brown yesterday instead of moonglow. I think I might do something with it but I'm generally unimpressed with the service from Readicut. I need to send my first batch back to them when I get time as I'd never use it and it is nothing like what I ordered - a poor substitution. Perhaps they should just call the the whole thing LUCKY DIP, as they certainly haven't replaced like with like. What a shame! It looked like they could be a good supply.

Please can anyone shed any light on this? I have tried the third proper row of the pattern and ripped it back several times now. I’m almost sure I’m not creating or dropping stitches I shouldn’t but can’t get the stitches to add up properly. Have checked the pattern and I think to do what it says, I need 99 stitches however, it tells me to have 96 stitches at the start of the row.
    K3, (k2tog, yfwd) twice, *k6, (k2tog, yfwd) twice, * rep from * to * 3 times, k8, (yfwd, s1, k1, psso) twice, **k6, (yfwd, s1, k1, psso) twice, ** rep from ** to ** 3 times
I’m tempted to just knit the odd stitch that I end up with at the end of the row but because it’s quite a distinctive holey pattern, I’m worried it will throw the rest of it out.
    Is it me or them?
    Thankyou for looking

I count the instructions for that row to add up to 99 stitches. What does it say about having 96 stitches - are you decreasing in the first or second row to get to that? How many stitches do *you* have at the beginning of the third row?

Here's how I've counted the 99 stitches anyway:

    K3, (k2tog, yfwd) twice, = 7 sts

    *k6, (k2tog, yfwd) twice, * = 10 sts

    rep from * to * 3 times, = 30 sts

    k8,= 8 sts

    (yfwd, s1, k1, psso) twice, = 4 sts

    **k6, (yfwd, s1, k1, psso) twice, ** = 10 sts

    rep from ** to ** 3 times = 30 sts

    7+10+30+8+4+10+30=99

Hi blueberrypie - thanks for your reply-the pattern is cast on 96 stitches and no increases or decreases except those to create the holes in the pattern. I start off the row with 96 as I'm supposed to so as you say am 3 stitches short to finish as the pattern says. I thought I would try and do as much of the pattern and stop when I ran out of stitches but end up with the odd stitch that I mentioned earlier. Spent ages on it last night!

  • I received the Raffia in conker brown as well, 2 lots but i really like it and it's more than enough to iknit what I wanted. Readicut also gave me a five pound voucher with each lot so I was quite happy.

I think I'll reserve judgement on the service from readicut and have just placed an order for 2 of their lucky dips. Some Sirdar Click DK and I think it was the Snuggly one too.

I think the problem with the moonglow offer was that after the offer was posted on here everyone seemed to order it and they probably weren't expecting to be inundated so thought the best thing to do was to send out an alternative (despite not being a like for like).

Feel free to order any of the lucky dips I have mentioned above as I have already placed my order :rotfl:
