Hi nuttywoman, I too have arthritis in my neck and other parts, and love knitting. I came across an article about bamboo knitting needles a while back and bought a few pairs and they are wonderful to knit with. They are warmer to hold than the usual ones. I can't remember where I bought them but hopefully someone will be able to help there. I would knit every night for a few hours and i would feel very upset if I could no longer knit, but just taking it easy and stopping for a while helps me. I hope you are able to carry on with your knitting and enjoy it.Take care warmest wishes MargaretxDo a little kindness every day.;)0

Just to say that I have also bought a lot of wool from some websites and was happy with them, but my favourite one is clickettyclack and the woman gives wonderful first class service, so I will certainly be going back to them for my wool etc. I had placed my first order a while ago after recommendation from another poster here, and I received an email from a lovely woman to offer me a better deal on the wool I had ordered and a promt email back a few hours later, and I have placed two biggish orders with them in total and love them. Excellent customer service. We do have three wool shops in our city but it is expensive and prefer to order here. Happy knitting:) MargaretDo a little kindness every day.;)0

If you look at row 5 and row 7, you'll see that the holes (made by your yfwd or sl1) "move" across by one stitch each time - but following your instructions for row 3 puts each hole directly above the one below. So figure out which way they're supposed to be "moving" (using row 5 and row 7) and you should be able to adjust row 3 - you will need to start the "holey" bit of the pattern one stitch earlier or later than it says.
Remember to do the same for all the pattern repeats as you move up your work.
Hope that's clear; I'm asleep on my feet here, so signing off for the night. Good luck :-)0 -

Can I use baby wool to knit something for myself?
I have made a bit of a boo boo and ordered some of the snuggly bubbly from Readicut as I liked the look of it. When it arrived yesterday I was shocked to find the free patterns were for babies (I should have twigged as I liked all the colours so did not mind which colour I got and they are all quite baby colours aswell). Luckily I ordered 2 packs and they have sent the same colour. Unfortunately I opened one of the packs of free patterns to see what other patterns there were so can't now send it back (although I wouldn't want to as it is quite a nice shade of blue).
I have tried having a look at the site recommended previously but things I do like need either crochet hooks or circular needles and I don't really want to buy those extra things.
Can anyone help or am I destined to make something for my niece and nephew?Did owe £9,951.96

Hi Lynsey,
The baby wool is probably double knitting - check the patterns and if they use 4mm (size 8) needles, then any double knitting patterns should be fine - just check your tension to be sure. You're only young once, but you can be immature forever0 -
Thanks charlies_mum
If I remember rightly it does say double knitting on the band around the middle. Will double check and I might have a pattern already at home which I think may use dk, as the wool I originally bought for it hasn't knitted up very nicely.Did owe £9,951.96

Will it make much difference if the wool tension says 23 stitches and the pattern tension says 22 stitches?
The pattern I was going to use actually uses Sirdar Calico DK and the wool I have bought is Sirdary Snuggly Bubbly DK.Did owe £9,951.96

Hi Lynsey
Tension is usually measured over 4 inches (10 cms), so one stitch difference would mean a 2" difference on a 40" chest.
Maths aren't my strong point, so anyone please feel free to dispute thisYou're only young once, but you can be immature forever0
