I love the tea cosies - I was wondering what to make my mum for her birthday and now I think I have found one item I can make.... thanks everyone :j0

I spotted this vintage tea cosy but it is very expensive and would prefer to knit it.

Have searched a few sites trying to find a similar pattern, as it says based on a vintage design, but no luck.
Does anyone recognise the pattern?
Thank you.

Haven't managed to look through the full thread but have been inspired to try and so some knitting while off for the rest of the week. Loads of wool in the loft. Would like to find a pattern on-line for one of those multi coloured hats with ear-flaps some places call them peruvian. Have found some patterns but not sure what weight the wool is and also unsure about american needle sizes. Has anyone found a pattern with UK wools and needles or can anyone help by translating US or Australian terms. Thanks0

Hi
I found this pattern when doing a search for patterns using chunky wool.

It gives the needle size as us 11 which is 8mm.
I went to the charity shops today and manages to get several pairs of needles for 25p each.0 -
Hello Bella and everyone else.
Happy New Year
yes i was one of the people who resolved to use my stash last year and i nearly succeeded. in fact i think i did but have managed to build up a stash again.
My resolution for this year is to knit garments that i find a bit more challenging with more complicated patterns etc. what is everyone else resolving to do?
happy knitting

my resolution, is to knit even more items for charity, than i did in 2008, which was 158 items, ranging from tiny baby hats, to single sized bed blankets

Shazrobo - your totals for last year were brilliant! I too am hoping to get a lot more done this year. I've been scouring the Ravelry site for free patterns and there are a few baby items on there.

I'm going to have a go at making socks. I bought some dpn's in charity shop this morning. I also got two pairs of wooden needles as I got a pattern the other day for a bag that uses them as the handles which was really quirky so am going to make one for myself and one for a knitting friend for ChristmasMarried 19th May 2011 to the love of my lifeCross Stitch Cafe Member Number 44CSC Challenge - to complete LEGS by end of December

Hi tooties, it's good to know that someone else's stash grows as fast as it declines.
No resolutions here, except that I just hope to keep on keeping on.
