Well guys...(should that be gals) wish me luck, for I am about to start a scarf for my daughter....now, before you all start sniggering, it's a twirly-wurly-lacy-cobwebby-beaded jobbie. Knitted on a circular needle, starting off with 175 stitches, increasing to 1050 by row 11 .

We were in John Lewis in the Trafford Centre on Thursday and this scarf on display looked amazing, so like a fool, I offered to knit one for Miss Twit. A Christmas pressie needless to say, I think the wool was a bit dear compared to E-bay, but I did get the pattern for free.

If I ever get the hang of this lace cast on method and eventually finish the beast, then I will post a piccie.

I bought a selection of bamboo circular needles from ebay on Thursday night, 80cm long £5.99 plus postage, they arrived this morning, so much cheaper than buying them individually. From now on, everything will have to be knitted in the round. :rotfl:

Posted this on the Preparing for winter thread, sorry to repeat it, but I thought it would be useful to peeps on here. It has lots of free patterns and tutorials. I used to knit lovely sweaters for my sons when they were small, I think children look so well cared for in home knitted stuff, but sadly they got to an age where they thought it was not cool. Like other posters here I could'nt sew them up too well so my friends gran used to help me out. I remember my dad knitting socks for himself too on 4 needles, and darning them when they got holes in!:D

I've done both legs, the body and neck - just about to start on the face - when that's done I can sew him up stuff him :j I can't wait for the finished result :D
Squares knitted for my throw ~ 90 (yes!!! I have finally finished it :rotfl: )
Squares made for my patchwork quilt ~ 80 (only the "actual" quilting to do now :rotfl:)

Jinny, thanks so much for this icon14.gif. My OH has asked me to knit him some fingerless gloves, believe it or not the "fingers" on his old pair have worn out - But then again he says he's had them for about 7 years now! I had bought a few balls of wool at the weekend in the olds and ends bit in the market for a few pound, so now with the mens fingerless gloves pattern from this link I can get started on them
