My wife has 2 months of a 12 month contract left, and they've rung her today from the North Shields call centre, that's right,NORTH SHIELDS here in good old Blighty, not Delhi or anywhere else.

She is currently on 500 x net minutes,100 texts, and whatever else crap comes with the package, and she currently pays £15pm,which according to 3,is discounted from £30,because of her 'loyalty bonus.' She has a Nokia 6288,as her phone.

They have offered her the same contract, but a phone upgrade to a 6500,with the same contract at the same price.

By the time I had picked myself up off the floor, due to fits of laughter, :rotfl: they then went onto offer the mix and match 700 for £21,or the mix and match 900 for £24,with the Sony Ericsson k600i,but they were both on 18 months,to which I told the wife to say no.She's hoping for an increase in mins/texts,without paying that much more, plus she only wants a 12 month contract.

Conversation ended, but I'm sure they'll be back nearer the time of expiry, hopefully with a better offer.
That's my mutt in the picture above.
  • Current contract end next month, requested my PAC and was offered a brand new N95 8GB on the same tarif as now;

    750 mins
    150 texts
    50mms
    50 video calls
    £5.00 downloads

All for £24 per month, currently paying £35

    Is this a good deal?

It's extremely variable. 2 weeks ago received a call from scotland out of the blue (I had ~2 months before end/contract).

I was quite a wordy start to the call about how I was liking three, but then start on loyalty .. and I was offered
    - Remain on VTT500 (150 textx 300 mins 25 mms 25 video £5 downloads) for £5 pcm (£20 loyalty discount carried over form last year)
    - I said I'd stay on my £5 pcm xseries 1Gb data plan. didn't check if this is now enforced (should have). Don't believe so but not bothered.
    - 18 month contract
    - LG viewty free

I wasn't keen on the phone pointing out I use my Nokia N80 with intellisync (work email) and lots of other symbian apps and was instead offered the N95 8Gb. I was told unfortunately there would be a one off charge... of 30

You can imagine my reaction - double checking etc. So I accepted, and the bills so far looking good as is the handset (it's fantastic for a heavy user... photos with GPS tagging [ extra download] good too)

Truely stonking deal if you ask me!

I never received a call back in the end, and the retentions department couldn't offer me anything new (only what was available on their site).

So I'm going to sign up with them again via quidco and RAF, netting me a £60 saving min.

Do you have a PAC or did you give 30 days notice? I am wondering how starting all over again would work if you ordered online. I am due an upgrade in Sept and might do this too if they dont give me a good offer.

I requested a PAC. I'm simply porting my number to a PAYG sim and then porting it back over to the new contract sim from Three. I've gone for their £15 a month, 6 month contract. 300 Mix and Match and a free phone (Nokia 6120). I managed to get quidco on this -£34 but not RAF. Works out to be £9.33 a month if quidco comes through.

Do you have an online account at all? I might have not got a call from Three due to my marketing preferences stating that I didn't want any calls to my mobile or land line phone. They didn't even call when I was due an upgrade..

I hope to go for the 1100 mix and match for £20 providing that offer is still there in September! The £65 CB brings it down to £15 per month with the skype phone.

So does requesting a PAC automatically cancel my contract with them, or do I still give notice? At which point can I port my contract to a PAYG?

Also, when you order online does it give you the option to let them know the PAC or existing number so that it transfers over?

    What length of contract?

    its a 18 months contract
  • I just rang up to cancel and managed to get a Nokia 6500 on 1100 mix and match for £20.00. Initially they were offering me exactly what was on their website, but after much pushing they upgraded the phone and offered the deal for life, so in 18 months time I get an instant upgrade and still pay £20.

I'm sure it's not as good as if I'd of waited for them to ring back, but on the whole I'm quite pleased with it.
