the best way to get the best deal does seem to be by giving 30 days notice rather than your PAC,

Surely requesting a PAC is a better option than giving 30 days notice? I don't want to have to go through the rigmarole of getting a completly new contract especially wishing to keep my current number? Any explanations as to why giving 30 days notice is a feasible option is appreciated.

    thanks

    jonah1156,

you might want to get in touch with three's press office, (I am currently browsing using my mobile so can't really effectively search the thread for it). they are very helpful and really helped out a friend recently.

Alternative you could go for the m&m 1100 tariff, £20p/m, but after Quidco (£62.50) and the £30 RAF, your line rental will be around £14 a month. You could sell the phone you get and add the profit from that towards line rental for even further savings!
    SLC: £13000+

    Quidco
    : £
    131.24 (paid) + £0 (validated) = £131.24
    Valued Opinions
    : £75 (paid) + £52.30 (received) + £4.50 (pending) = £131.80
    StudentPanel: £25

    I've been offered -

    750 mins
    150 texts
    50mms
    50 video calls
    £5.00 downloads

A sony Ericsson K660i for £10 per month for life. I'd prefer a N95 so think i'll call them once the K660i arrives, 600 mix & match would suit me fine although the price is nice.

No its not - think about it, once you have your PAC you can contract with another co. a few hours or a few weeks later its out of the control of the network. If you give them notice they have a fixed time period in which to retain you as a customer. Typically they'll leave it to the last day before they agree a new tariff.

Hi all, I am 2 years into an 18 month contract(I know should have done something before now:confused: ) thats for 100mins, 100texts for £20/month and I very rarely go over this or spend on anything else.

I phoned up 3 from my handset on 333 and went through to the disconnections and asked for my PAC, after a brief discussion about why I want to leave, he asked me what I wanted and I asked about the N95 8GB, he said I could have it for £30 one off payment staying on my current tarrif for another 18 months.

Now the advice I need is :- Is this good? Or is there a better deal for a nokia N95 8GB out there:D?

    Thanks
That's not that good to be honest. You're paying for the phone rather than the contract. I've an N95 and they're pretty good, but even the latest models become glitchty. There's so much technology crammed in at a low price that it's inevitable they start to go wrong. Additionally the GPS reciever is a very very basic one (price again) which really struggles to pick up any GPS reception and needs to be plugged in to the mains to be used otherwise you can literally watch the battery go down right in front of you.

I don't want to put you off if your heart is set on it, but if I were you I'd get a cheaper phone + deal, or if I was certain on an N95 I'd get a cheaper "original" N95 (i.e. not the 8Gb) and buy a 4/8GB Micro SD card then pocket the difference $$$ :)

    Cheers,
    Rob.
  • For anyone who doesn't uniformly use minutes and texts, when you phone up 3; ask them to be given 'credit' rather than fixed minutes & texts. This gives you the flexibility to spend it as you like. Fancy sending lots of picture messages or making lots of long calls one month?- you won't be penalised this way :)

Can you use an external Bluetooth GPS module with it?
  • Leaving my £35/mnth tarriff (as my 1/2 price line rental offer soon ends) and was offered the following:

Sony Ericcson K660i on the £15/mth Mix and Match 300 tarrif with a £3/Mnth off loyalty bonus (e.g. £12/Month)

Having refused that (didn't really like the handset, and the tarrif is good, but might not quite cover all my calls / texts) I then mentioned the Nokia N95 8GB, which was quickly offered for £25/Month for 18 months, on a slightly higher tarriff.

Both a bit tempting, but not quite what I'm after. If the N95 came a little cheaper, or they were prepared to discount the £20/Month rate for the older N95, I might be interested. Or even in the handset with the £12 month was a little less basic. For now, I've requested the PAC in writing (cancelling early after a change in T&Cs, not sure they will honour it though), will see if this brings now offers.

Until then, please keep posting your deals, so I can see what other "secret options" might be available !
