3 Retention Deals

Hi all,
My contract expires on the 23rd of March. I gave my 30 days notice and was a little surprised that 3 offered my PAC code at the same time, and it arrived by text during my cancellation call. I've called roughly once a week to see if they had any offers, mainly in the hope that they'd see I was quite keen to stay with them. But the 'deal call' never came (I had a fantastic deal last year). The very best deal I'd been offered was Mix & Match 300 with a 6288 for £13.50-negotiated from £15 start. The M&M 300 was the best deal they offered, and I couldn't even get the £12 promotional tariff. I pretty much tried everything, but they wouldn't budge. (I'd said I don't need a 'phone as I have an n95, so I'd accept the cheapest phone on the cheapest tariff and so on...).
So I called tonight with the intention of trying one last time then asking to transfer to PAYG and they got me! Out of the blue they offered a brand new n95 8gb free on Mix & Match 300 with 300 3 to 3 minutes and 4000 Skype minutes for £15 pm. It's not the best deal in the world, but I'm happy. I have a feeling that they make a note of some of the things that you say during these upgrade conversations, as I'd mentioned this phone previously as being the only one they could offer as a true upgrade.

My contracts expires 15th May ish I think. I'm thinking of cancelling and going on payg as I'm paying a fortune a month (currently £60.. used to be £30) and only work part time and cant afford it. Would like to stay with 3 on contract but only if it is like £10-15 a month as I really cant afford anything else.. I used to talk a lot, but dont now as circumstances have changed.
Do you reckon I should ring up and haggle with them? When do I have to give my notice in to say I want to end my contract?

Still being offered 250 mins/50 texts for £15 per month and choice of handset - 2nd pack expired so I think that it is time to move.

Disappointing but as we don't really use the functionality of Three (Mrs Anon only uses phone and text) then no real loss. Virgin Sim only deal, free for 6 months on Carphonewarehouse (with Quidco cashback as well) may be the next stop ...

Gave my 30 days notice yesterday and so far have had 5 lengthy calls from 3 offering me exactly the same as on the website but telling me its a very special deal just for me ! It's really annoying to think I'm going to get 2 or 3 calls a day for a month. I don't really need a posh phone but would like the a new phone with 1100 units. Can anyone tell me what I'm likely to get this for ? If I have to I can always start again from the website via quidco and refer a friend but then I'll lose my number. What is my best offer likely to be ?

As far as I can tell after a month of discussion with '3' the price plans would seem to be fairly non-negotiable. I was only ever offered the same deals as the website. However, depending on who you speak to, you may be asked what sort of deal you were expecting. When I was asked this I said it would be quite nice to be offered something better than a new customer would get. He agreed with this and we managed to get the Mix & Match 300 down to £13.50, with a 6288. I said no in the hope of something better being offered in the last week of my notice. Eventually with 2 days left I phoned them to convert to PAYG, and was offered a free, brand new n95 8gb on M&M 300 for £15 pm. I accepted this and am happy.
So I think your best bargaining tool is the handset rather than the price plan, and incorporate the value of it into the cost of the contract.

three are offering me some crap deals basically the same as their site. gave notice on 18th, already upgrading my o2 contract (600 mins 1000 txt + u/l landline calls for £10 - however no phones and 24 months contract) but am hoping 3 ring me to offer a better deal if not will just stick with 02 and bye bye 3.

refurbished - normally one of the 14 days returns/or handset they have repaired which has been cleaned up
