Bindiboo, glad you are happy with that deal and I do realise that things change but last year my sister got offered exactly that same deal 300 mins, 150 texts and all that other stuff (except no handset) for £5 for life with a £25 credit on the account - basically 5 months free- making the monthly equivalent to be £2.92 per month. A few others on this forum got that deal also - 12 month contract.

She didn't get a phone, but since you mention that you are going to ebay the phone anyway, it sounds like you would be better off with this kind of deal. However this was about 4-5 months ago and that deal may be off the cards unless you are really intent on leaving three and you get one of those last minute calls from the 'real' retentions team. I just thought I'd mention it, in case you've got the strength and will to hold out longer! But if you're happy with the deal offered it might be easier to accept than play games with the retention team - I tell you, sometimes there is no method to their madness, they offer these deals on an inconstant basis.

total £270.00 less the £150 credit (PBD) making my monthly line rental only £10.
I am quite happy with that.

Did they not make you extend your contract by 6 months in return for the £150 credit?

They did that with me - I had accepted a new 18 month minimum term contract for £10/month for life, and they then offered me the £150 credit, but I had to extend the contract to 24 months. Still it's only £90 for 2 years and I got a refurbished N73 too.

On the other hand, when my wife asked about the £150 credit they told her they would only escalate it if she first agreed to a new contract - she said she would only agree to a new contract if they offered her the £150 so stalemate :/

Hiya All, I asked for my PAC code back on the 10th and yesterday got a call from 3. They have offered me £5.00 on a 18 Month Contract and also a refurb Nokia N73. 500 Mins and 100 txt. I took the offer but was suprised with the offer to retain me as a customer

This being the £5 per month deal that they told me did not exist anymore earlier this week when I mentioned it .... Do they really think that customers do not talk to each other? Worth checking the contract length as earlier in the thread people had £5/month on 12 month contracts with a new SE 850i if I recall correctly (but still a good deal - particularly if you sell the phone!).

Thank you - appears that there is hope still of a good deal.

At 1st they offered the Nokia 6280 but I asked if another phone was avilable an they said N73. Must admit at £5 per month not worried about the contract lenght being 18 months. If it does turn out to be 12 Months then 12 months it is.

my original 12 month contract would have finished in April. This new deal starts from my next bill (feb) and will be 12 months from then. The £150 credit will be applied to my account in feb. The phone came today, quite nifty but gonna still sell it as prefer sony erricson
  • I'm not sure what's going on with Three at the moment but they've called me several times today on my two phones which I have with them and the deals they are offering are awful! The contract ends on 13th Feb.

    I currently get:

    750 Mins
    150 Texts
    50 Video Call Mins
    50 MMS Messages
    £5 Worth Of Downloads

    For £35 per month.

    They offered me:

    Free Nokia 6500 Slide
    900 Minutes or Messages Per Month ( Mix'n'Match 900)
    £26 Per Month

The lady in the call centre was adamant that it was the best possible deal that Three could offer despite me pointing out that it's exactly the same deal that I could pick up if I went into my local Three store:rolleyes:

It looks like I'm going to have to play the waiting game and hold out for the 'proper' retentions people to call me.

One thing I would point out is that they tried to tell me that my contracts would end on 13th Feb and that I'd start my months notice period then. I had actually given notice by phone and by mail on the 13th of this month so the contracts finish for good on the 13th Feb. I'm not sure if they've tried this with anyone else, nut they tried it on with me twice today about two different contracts

That's a nice offer! I think it all depends on how much you use. I was offered £10/month for life with an N73 yet my wife has been offered nothing at all :/

Her contract runs out tomorrow and we are going out tonight, so last night she upgraded to a mix n match with an E65 for £15/month. Hopefully they will now come back with the £150 for 6 months extra contract cashback redemption deal.

I have 2 other phones that I got on an amazing retention deal last year (£6/year + new handset). I sold the phones, but rarely used the included minutes. The guy that gave me the £10/month deal offered to upgrade one of those, but later came back saying the computer wouldn't allow him to due to the lack of usage.

Oh well some you win, some you lose. My wife and I are now on better deals than we had last year with better handsets, and for less than half the total monthly cost, and no stupid cashback issues to worry about so I'm fairly happy ;)

    Watch out guys.

I got my paperwork today and it does not mention the £10 loyalty discount, nor does it mention the extra 500 text messages.

I called up and the lady said she cannot find any evidence of either of these but will honour the £10 discount and will send an amended letter, but as for the 500 texts, she'll have to get the team to call me back within 24 hours (which has already passed) I'm not impressed. Especially as the phone (Nokia 6500 slide) is already showing problems.

ETA: I called them back, and they now have no record of the extra 500 text messages either :(
