Have a look at post 4183 here- http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showpost.php?p=60061061&postcount=4183

I basically said to the guys on the phone not to mess me around and bs'd a bit to try and imply i knew what they could do and in the end i ended up having a nice conversation about the company and how a lot of the retentions team were angry at management in the UK due to changes where they physically couldn't change the system pricing (unless it was a special discount on certain handsets). I know this to be true after researching myself. Especially when i got the one plan sim only for £12.50pm last year and now they won't even knock £1 off standard price.

I went for the £11pm desire c option in the end with 500 mins/unl data. (but this was for a family member) But when i called back for a second account the guy was telling the truth and the loyalty price was now £13pm like he said it would be.

You did very well with the 1 plan sim only deal at the time. The Desire C is still respectable at £11- its the unlimited internet which makes it a deal maker in my opinion

I'll keep the forum updated on the findings im going to call on Monday : ) hehe

Im going to prepare a list of constructive arguments that i can rinse and ambush them : )

Yeh the Desire C is still a good price for £11pm and i'm happy with it. The only reason i accepted it for the family member was due to the unlimited data and 3 to 3 mins (and my entire family is on 3 haha). Besides she was paying £26pm before so she's happy :) (tbh she would have been happy to pay the £23pm standard price they offered her first but i had to tell her that was terrible and took control of the phone :P )

All i will say is that the "outbound retentions" team will probably be able to offer a bit better than the normal team you talk to but that really does depend on the handset.

Also get ready for the "third parties are a scam", "cashback doesn't work" & "no else does unlimited internet" lectures which Three are known very well for. I had to tell the guy 4 times that cashback and third parties are legit before he backed down.

Let me know how it goes. It'll be interesting to see what they can do on 4G phones. My personal contract expires end of April i think so i'll be looking to pay no more than £12.50pm with a free phone :D

I have a mobile broadband deal with 3. A Samsung netbook and 5 gb allowance for £25 a month. Spent ages over the last 3 days trying to cancel. Day 1, I had to listen to how I was such a good customer etc and was cut off when I said just cancel please. This happened twice. Day 2, went over it all again and was offered a new Samsung 15.6 in laptop for £27 a month. I no longer need mobile broadband so refused. Cut off again. Day 3, I was offered "a very special offer of 5gb a month broadband for £10.87 a month" Exactly the same as you get as a new customer. Finally, they accepted that I just want to leave.

Had someone else ring me last week to tell me hat they couldn't do me a deal on the S3. Then had another call today from the lady (Crystal) who rang on the 16th offering me the S3 ultrafast for £29pm.

Thing is, after the call saying they wouldn't do me an S3 for less than £32pm, i ordered one from Tescos...just had the credit check approved today! Was supposed to get £50.50 cashback via TCB as well, but it's only tracked at £35.35...think that might have swung it for me TBH...

What was the deal you got? That sounds great. A 4G phone for £29pm. Good to know Three are doing retention deals on 4G unlike EE.

It's on the ultimate internet 500 (i'm on the one plan at the mo) Think i got my PAC code on the 6th March or thereabouts, and i've had 5 or 6 calls over the last couple of weeks.

Works out at just £1.09pm more than i'm paying now.

Thanks for that. I have a lot of family on Three and to be hones they're all low users so when i've been ringing up i've been looking at the £15 and under bracket.

I'm currently on the One plan for £12.50 and would like a 4G phone when my contract is up in a couple of months. Hopefully by that point Three will have realised i'm a loyal customer and allow me to get a free phone on my current price plan.... :rotfl:
  • Been a 3 customer for 13 years.
    Contract up in 3 weeks.

Called to see what deal I can get on iphone5 with one plan and got offered the same price as on their website.

I asked to speak to customer retention and was put on hold. The same person came back and offered £10 off the upfront cost of the phone.

I asked again to speak to customer retention and they said that they were part of the retention team. I am not sure about this because I chose the option for upgrading not leaving. I think they are just not putting me through to customer retention.

13 years of custom and 15 mins listening to them tell me about minor things, such as different coloured phones and quick delivery, and all I can get is £10 off the handset. When I said I would go away and think about it I was told that the £10 may not be available when I called back and that I should upgrade now. I politely declined, stating that £10 was not going to force me to make a rash and uninformed decision.

Do you think this is the best I can do? Was I even speaking to customer retention? Any advice welcomed - thanks.
