I've looked everywhere on the Tesco site and i can't find anywhere that says VAT isn't included in the price.

Tesco's prices, along with every other company selling consumer mobile phones, include VAT. It's one of Three's lies to try to get you to stay with them. They told me the same about Virgin. I am surprise they don't get sued!

Too long to go into...taking 95 mins on the phone to them..speaking to 6 diferent people....nearly every offer I had was more expensive than on their website....oh and I was even told I was their Best Customer and they would give me a special sim only deal of £28 month for the one plan with no phone (£20 on website!) Also was told that O2 only give you refurbished phones and when I argued that they couldn't say that ...they said it was true and O2 would never open a phone box in the shop and show you it As it wasn't new! Lol.
I was weak listening to it all and gave my months notice. Which was a nightmare trying to get them to accept too.

To transfer your number from 3 to 3 (via Tesco mobile) you will need to port your number away to another provider (i.e. o2, etc) then back again to 3 (via Tesco) so they were right on that part.

Call again and ask for your PAC, dont say why or anything else, just ask for it again and again until they relent. That should cut down some of the call time anyway.

Good idea, i'll do that, thanks!

I got my PAC code eventually, i just started insisting after me and the OH got bored of chuckling at his increasing desperation :D He sounded quite deflated by the end poor lamb :rotfl:

I said that to him...wouldn't they be breaking the law just taking on the VAT afterwards and not showing it on the site. Reminded him about when they put the price up mid contract as well and he got ever so flustered :D

I have to say, i quite enjoyed it TBH...down to reading this thread, knowing what to expect and having answers prepared for him. Cheers MSErs!

On the one hand I can see why the 3 people try so hard to stop you leaving but the approach they take is way over the top and really needs to be toned down a lot as it just ends up annoying people.

The guys on the phone must have pretty thick skins though. I wonder how long they last in that role.

Its a shame as when you do get your PAC, the retentions team that then phone you up are a lot more 'friendly' and when I have had to phone customer services about an account issue or a change to the Home Signal box we have there has never been any problem.

Has anyone been offered a decent deal after receiving their pac code? Or do you really lose your loyalty discount? I expect it's bs, but would like to know for next time.
There's a storm coming, Mr Johnson. You and your friends better batten down the hatches, because when it hits, you're all gonna wonder how you ever thought you could live so large and leave so little for the rest of us.

Just had the next level retention's fella on the phone. They're offering the Samsung Galaxy S500, ultimate internet 500 at £12pm, or the A3 for £13pm. Just trying to check out their specs now, out of curiosity more than anything. Can't find the phones on their website anywhere.

I told him that i only wanted the S3, he offered it for £28pm, told him it was £2 cheaper elsewhere and he said with the S4 coming out soon the price for the S3 will drop even more, which he's right, it will. I don't mind waiting a bit longer ;)

So going to tell him no when he rings back. See what offer he comes up with then.

ETA: He rang back and i told him i wasn't interested in those phones. Mentioned that we were also looking into getting a phone for my partner thinking that might make him give me the S3 at the price i wanted, but he said that would have to go onto a new contract (this phone is in his name anyway, so i'm not sure how that would work! And the previous rep had tried to get us to take 2 phones). Anyway, upshot is, he wouldn't match the price i found going through a 3rd party site, so we said goodbye. Not sure if i'll get another call, as this one was quite short. wait and see :)
  • I was recently due an upgrade from my previous HTC Wildfire on The One Plan which was £23 p/m.

Unfortunately when speaking to the upgrade team I was offered no discount, I even asked for a Sim Only deal and I was told I would have to still pay £25 p/m. To me this was completely unacceptable so I asked for my pac code.

When speaking to retentions I was still offered poor deals, the staff were adamant that I would have to pay an extra cost to stay on the one plan. I eventually caved in and took the Samsung S2 for £26 p/m.
My reasons for staying on the one plan were to enable me to tether.

Lucky for me I was able to sell the S2 and buy a Nexus 4 and still make a little bit of profit. The Nexus 4 on The One Plan is £38 p/m

And Three know this and it's probably why you didn't get far with negotiating. I think The One Plan is now the only unlimited data tariff that officially allows tethering after Virgin gave their one the chop.

All worked out well in the end though :D

That's true, I realised that after revealing that I require unlimited tethering..what's funny is that the sales man still tried to offer me non tethering plans..

I'm curious to know the lowest price some was offered The One Plan by retentions.

Hi has anyone heard anything from the retentions team recently?

I got my PAC code last week and I haven't heard anything since.

I was really hoping they might offer me a nice deal on an iphone5 or a sim-only One plan :(
