I've been getting the standard retention deal of £11pm with an Ultimate 500 tariff-

    500 Mins
    2000 3-3 Mins
    5000 Texts
Unlimited Data (250mb data for £8pm)

with either an Alcatel One Touch OT903, Samsung Galaxy Ace or HTC Desire C.

I'd say that's a very good offer. The HTC Desire C with Ultimate Internet 300 is £19-a-month on the website, so to get Ultimate Internet 500 for £11 seems good.

True, but when i'm paying £12.50pm on my main line for the one plan from a retention deal last year it doesn't look that great. This contract i'm upgrading at the moment is not for me but for a family member. And like i said, you can get better deals through third parties/cashback sites.

I've just spent the last hour on the phone to 3.
They told me that my three contracts were up on the 16th when I phones a month ago but when I asked for them today they said the 9th, 24th and 30th!
I then phoned back after looking at an offer they had proposed and when I spoke to another adviser he said I had to give 38 days notice for my PAC codes. Has anyone else been told this?? It seems very strange. I looked elsewhere to see if anyone else has had this and come up with zilch.
Anyway, my 38 days is up tomorrow so let's see what they'll tell me tomorrow!!
I spoke to another adviser who called me and when I asked about the '38' day rule he said yes you can have it 38 days before the end but you have to pay!! So in other words the day 38 rule didn't exist and it was another con to get me to ring up. He then went on to tell me not to get an iPhone 4 because they're out of date (not because he couldn't give me one!) and not to get one! He told me off for not using the PAC I had received 3 days earlier, cheeky...

I now can't believe a single word they tell me. I can't wait to leave now!

I had a horrendous half hour call to 3 earlier!
Still can't quite believe it, and only wish I had recorded it.

Contacted them as my contract is ending next month and wanted to see if they could match a deal I have found with T Mobile.

The advisor continuously talked at me for 30mins.
I explained that I wanted the Nokia 920, which he said they did not have available. When I pointed out that it was online, I was told that it was only available from new customers!
He then launched into a rant about how the Lumia 920 has terrible reviews.

I said I was decided on the Lumia 920 and that was what I wished to spend my money on.

He lectured me once again on why I should opt for and XTC and wouldn't let me get a word in edgeways.
I then commented that I couldn't beleive this was how they spoke to customers, and that it was true what I had read online regarding terrible customer service.
He asked where I had read this and when I said MSE he told me that it was owned by a phone company!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!?

Then went back on himself saying that the Nokia Lumia is an amazing phone.

Finally, when I tried to get a word in he said 'can you let me finish please'!

I was so infuriated having listened to him rant I couldn't help but raise my voice saying 'IM SORRY, I'VE BEEN LISTENING TO YOU NON STOP, I CAN'T BELEIVE THIS IS HOW YOU ARE NOW TRAINED IN CUSTOMER SERVICE'!

I asked to speak to a supervisor and was told I would receive a call back within 2hours. That was at 4pm........guess what!?
    No call so far.

Nice to know you value my 7 years + as a customer.
    Good bye 3.

These is what I've had every time I've spoken to them. They are nasty about other companies, tell blatant lies and only offer the phones that they fancy offering that day.
I want a Nokia Lumia 920 too and he went on about other phones being far superior and asked me why did I want such out of date phones??
It's been appalling what I've been thru' so far and I've got 2 more PAC codes to get so I'm in for more of it.
They've phoned and text my 3 contract phones so much this week. I'm now being really straight with them and telling them exactly how it is and pointing out how shoddily I've been treat.

    Good luck

Amazed to hear that they are treating so many customers this way!
I've made a decision to leave them next month for sure.
Oh Kaja..........have you seen the Nokia 808? Don't want to hijack this thread with an off topic....but think Im going to go for that. Buy it sim free and buy a PAYG sim....rather than have to deal with Threes retention deptartment!

It's because like i mentioned earlier, the three retentions team have tightened up. They are also being heavily targeted on retaining customers and that's why they will say or do anything to make you stay/not cancel.

The Nokia 808 is a good phone but purely if you want it for the camera/sound recording. Otherwise it;s a waste of money as it really lacks in every other department.

    Hi all,

i thought to contribute to the forum. My 24 month contract is due to end on April 25th. it will be 6 years since i have been with 3!!! im on the 1 plan btw

its nearly about time to give my 30 day notice,.:D
(grins with an intent in mind)

Im after the Sony Xperia z, Galaxy s3, or Iphone 5.

Has anyone recently been offered any prices for upgrades for these phones if so how much?

Thing is the1 plan is good as it will allow 4g internet access so i am told so im reluctant to move away plus it allows unlimited access.

So im going to have to make a argument/case against going with the 3 should the retention team try and "sell" to me

    Any advice will be appreciated

    Cheers

Ask for your pac code/ask them to escalate your case to outbound retentions. Once you get your pac code (this is the hard bit) then they will call you back within 3 working days (took 24 hours with me) and that's when the actual negotiations can begin.

But be warned, they're not as flexible as they used to be so you may find that you get nothing on certain phones. I know for a fact they can take the upfront cost off the tariff but not sure what else they can do. "Apparently" they can only discount certain phones now so....

    ZhugeEX thanks for your comments.

Interesting, will they call once only? if so is it worth taking their "best offer".

Im going to threaten to leave and reiterate my 6 year loyalty, hopefully that will be the ace card :j
im certainly not going to accept the website prices.

As a matter of interest what did they offer you phone and cost wise?
    and what were you after?

    Cheers

    Greg
