3 Retention Deals

Thanks again.
I have never looked at Talkmobile, thanks for bringing them to my attention, their deals seem very competitive.
I'm going to phone 3 tomorrow and tell them to cancel today's offer/deal. As they are not sending me a new phone there shouldn't be a problem.
If 3 offer something that includes a decent phone for minimum price then they might just keep my business, if not they give me my PAC code.
Thanks for helping me change my mind by pointing out that I wasnt being offered a good deal from 3.
Good luck. You will find their call centre staff persistent and I would have their website open to verify what they are saying about the value of phones (they told me one was worth £200 to £250, but on the website I could see it was £150).
They do sometimes offer good deals, my Mum gets 500 minutes/texts, 2000 3-to-3, 2GB internet all for £5-a-month. Today I was told the cheapest SIM only deal is £10-a-month however with just 100 minutes!0 -
Hi MarkBargain
After half an hour of asking 3 Retentions for my PAC code and telling them to cancel the upgrade I accepted yesterday they kept me on the phone trying to wear me down , to quote you from your post above.
"Good luck. You will find their call centre staff persistent and I would have their website open to verify what they are saying about the value of phones (they told me one was worth £200 to £250, but on the website I could see it was £150)"
They offered to reduce the Talk/Text 900 that I'm on to £12 p/m, I refused and told them I was interested in an HTC Desire S Refurbished on Text 500 for £20 per month which is on their website via Affordable Mobiles (£60 cashback too getting it from them)
I was told that the Desire S deal wasnt possible and offered an HTC Wildfire for £20 on Text 500 which is the deal they offer anyone so not a bargain and I of course refused.
I repeatedly asked for my PAC code and he kept insisting that I wouldn't get a better deal than the £12 p/m he was offering and suggested I took his deal and bought a new phone independently as that would work out cheaper!
My apologies for labouring the point but this went on and on and on to which point he almost had me convinced that it was a good deal.
Finally I asked if he would give me Talk/Text for £10 p/m and was told they couldnt do it for that price, I then said please terminate my contract and give me my PAC code as you cannot offer me what I want. I got my PAC code and headache at no extra charge.0 -

It seems they offered you even worse deals than usual. I am not sure why it is, or why my Mum was given a £5 deal the first time she phoned them, I guess it depends on the time of year or what they are offering at the time. I get the impression from this forum that the retention deals have dried up somewhat, meaning they only give deals from the website or slightly better.
Time to shop around then. Keep an eye out for promotional SIM only deals or big cash back offers on Topcashback. I think I will wait for T-Mobile to repeat the 600 minutes, 500 text, 500MB internet (uplimited surfing) deal for £7.50-a-month.0 -
I've been with 3 for years, and i've been on a rolling contract since my contract expired, (due to a mess up from the carphone warehouse)
I tried calling the upgrades team who offered me the Samsung Galaxy Ace, for £27 a month on the one plan, which i have no interest in.
I enquired about the Samsung Galaxy S2, but was quoted at £35 p/m. I explained thats the exact same deal on the website. I think i'll get the phone unlocked and if they still try this garbage, i'll leave and go sim only.
Whereas most of my friends on other networks, seem to have these companies bending over backwards to keep them, whereas 3, don't seem to give a monkeys.0 -

With Three and all mobile phone companies, rather than phoning the upgrades team you are better to choose the "thinking of leaving" option in the menus. If you really sound like you want to go, they may offer better deals to persuade you to stay. These used to be lots better with £5 deals commonly offered, but as you'll see from recent posts on here at the moment the deals are pretty poor. You're probably better to get your PAC and move networks, especially given special promotions that often appear and big cash back offers on Topcashback and Quidco.0 -
Yes, after 18 months of an unblemished record with 3 they happily accepted that I wanted to leave and put me on a 30 day cancellation period. There was no inducement to stay and no offers made. I tried to state that I wanted a better deal, but none were offered. Communication can be very difficult in itself with the offshore call centres. I'm disappointed to be leaving 3 but there are other companies and cash-back offers out there which blow their deals away.
Unlike others on here, I've never had a call/email from Three pestering me to renew my contract. Clearly 3 has sufficient new business to not concern themselves with retaining existing customers.0 -
hi there folks , my contract with 3 ends at the end of september , i currently pay£10 pm for 500 mins/text , 1gb internet allowance , according to them my accounting has a 8 discount allowance ( well so they say .lol. ) i`ve been with them for 4 years , essentially i`m looking to upgrade to the iphone 4 or the ace s2 , i dont want anymore minutes or text just the phone upgrade , i was hoping to achieve this for
£20 pm , am i being unrealistic , any feedback would be much apprieciated , thanks.0 -
I just phoned them again to see what they can offer, saying I wanted a cheap SIM only deal. The lady told me she could do me a deal for around £13-a-month, so I didn't even enter into that conversation. That's £3 more than the deals on their website!0

In the last month of my contract today so called up and received the following sim free 12month contract offers:
£5pm 500mins, 2gb internet, 100 texts and unlimited calls 3-3
£10 500mins, 4gb internet, 100 texts and unlimited calls 3-3
£15 500mins, 4gb internet, 1100 texts and unlimited calls 3-3
I declined these offers and asked for my PAC code. Hopfully a different team will call me back with better offers. I want the 'one plan' and they don’t want to offer me any discount for it. £15 for the one plan is what im after0 -
Just had a call back from three customer services (the real retentions team). She asked when I was planning to use the PAC code, I said tonight. She then offered me the one plan for £15pm with a nokia c201 on a 24month contract.
I would have liked a shorter contract but I buy my phones outright anyway so no big deal. Plus it guarantees me this deal for years. Well chuffed!0
