Sounds good compared to what I'm being offered. Which department did you speak to? I can only get hold of the Indian call centre who don't seem to be moveable on their offer of 500 minutes for £15 for 24 months.

Has anyone had a good offer from 3 recently?

Hello, I think I called upgrades to see what deals they would offer, I wasn't happy so asked for the PAC. This seemed to slightly annoy the sales assistant who asked me why I had phoned the upgrades dept, then asked for my PAC (erm, because I can! :rotfl:). I then told them I was unsatisfied with the offers, they were pushing the sony xperia 10, 500 mins and text for £15 a months for 2 years. This didn't seem too bad but I would hate to commit to 3 for that long so told them I wasn't interested in expensive phones and got offered the deal above. I don't think 3 have a Uk based call centre.
It's interesting that the 'free upgrade at anytime' is not really free at all but I plan to buy an orange san francisco anyway.

Iv'e been with 3 for 5 years and my latest contract is up in a month's time. This week I started the daunting task of negotiating an upgrade. i want the HTC Desire on the best deal possible - I don't want to pay more than the £20 I pay now which is for 1100 mix and match minutes and 500MB data.

I was offered a really hard sell on SE Experia X8 (which I don't want) with
    2000 any time minutes
    5000 UK texts
    5000 3 t0 3
    All you can eat data

I said no and was given the hard sell on how good the phone is. I was then offered the Sim only deal for £15 (curious that some get it for £13). I said no.

I asked for the same SE deal on HTC Desire but after a long time, the best they would offer was
    300 any time minutes
    500 texts
500 MG Data for £23 for 24 months.

I have turned this down and said I am looking at my options. I was phoned last night by someone else to offer me a good deal. I was a offered HTC Wildfire on the same deal as SE above. I said no that I was only interested in Desire and was told that the phones are almost identical to which I replied why can't I have Desire then?

I said I was going to look around for a better deal maybe through a third party. The guy from 3 said he would ring me back on Friday.

I'm not keen on going through someone like www.buymobilephones.co.uk or mobiles.co.uk but will not be hassled into accepting a phone or deal I don't want. Shall let you know how I get on.

I haven't had another call back as 'promised' so still hanging on. Contract technically ends 1 March but I'm assuming it just carries on if you haven't done anything. May ring next week for another go at negotiating a deal on HTC Desire.
  • I find the whole mobile phone upgrade process so tiresome. Just been on to 3 again and had to listen to another call centre operative telling me about the "great deals" they can do for me as a "valued customer" at the end of a contract, only to offer me exactly what is on the website.

So I give notice of cancellation and request a PAC code just so they can ring me back and we can do it all again, gradually chipping away at the price. A complete charade and a massive waste of time and energy.

I just want a no-hassle contract and a bit of reward for my loyalty - is that too much to ask? There has to be room for a mobile provider who doesn't demand you haggle for absolutely everything and is prepared to give loyal customers a better deal than they can find on the high street. Even if they just knocked a few quid off but no, they insist on trying to con you that the standard package you're being offered is some special deal they're cutting you.

    OK, rant over :)

    Hear, hear.

I'm going through this just now as well....

Just got off the phone to three for my wife's 18 month contract which was coming to an end next month. She was on £15 a month 75 min, 5000 texts, 2gb of data. After a lot of haggling managed to get £10 discount per month on a 12 months flexible contract on the same tariff. So very pleased with the deal for only £5.32 per month allbeit without a new phone.

I am in exactly the same boat as you.

I took the 12 month 'flexible tariff' in November. After 2 days of calls to upgrades, I discovered that I can cancel my contract with no extra fees. I had at the very least expected to have to buy-out the remainder of the contract but not so. :j

I'm after an HTC Desire HD but they won't budge from the £35 One Plan deal.

I now have my PAC so the wait begins to see what offers the retentions team will pull out of the bag ....

First call today after requesting PAC I was offered the Desire HD + a memory card thrown in for £25/month, which I rejected. This seemed to annoy the Indian call centre operative, so after telling me that nowhere would ever give me a better deal (I didn't even want the HD) he snottily told me he'd send me my PAC.

Will wait and see what they offer me - ideally a nice phone at a great price - but if not I'm fully prepared to take my number and go on to a cheap PAYG tariff somewhere else.

I think they believe I'm bluffing because I've always just taken the upgrade deal in the past (silly, I know, but anything for an easy life), but they're really starting to wind me up with their useless, rude call centre staff (do they take a special course in obnoxiousness or am I just unlucky?), so I'll quite gladly tell them where to stick it even if it means doing without a shiny new smartphone.

Will keep you posted on whether they offer me anything else.

On £15 texter plan and actually paying £10, wouldn't offer anything at this price, phoned a few times and it's obvious that they now make notes of all previous conversations, they didn't seem to care if I stayed or went, I gave 30 days notice and got upto 3 days before contract expired and no phone calls, I called up and they weren't shifting, reluctantly i've gone onto the £10 30 day rolling contract.
  • I phoned up today and got the script about a being with Three for so long and having lots of loyalty points. I was then asked why I wanted to leave and I mentioned coverage problems of late (the problem isn't not getting a signal but the downtime as you flick between 2g and 3g repeatedly). Before I'd finished my sentence they had checked the coverage at my home address and were asking for my work address. At this point I was slightly annoyed and told them just to give me my PAC code - and I was amazed when they did just that. The whole process took less than 5 minutes.

I'm already on the maximum loyalty discount, and I'm not interested in signing up to a contract so I guess they weren't interested in saving my custom. A novel feeling as I'm used to the annual haggle and useless deals that are thrust under your nose when you say you want to leave.

I got told today by a 3 customer service lady that OFCOM has said that all new handset upgrades have to be 24 months long, is this true?
