3 Retention Deals

...
After a few frustrating calls with their retentions people I've totally lost patience with them - their call centre operatives have absolutely no hesitation about lieing to you and could patronise for India.

Hell yeah - "thank you so much for entering your pin number" I don't need to have my time wasted by being thanked for following a security procedure designed to save time.
Back on topic - I want a handset that 3 do not currently provide but carphone warehouse do (on 3 no less). Bloke on phone told me that any phone that was available on 3 would only be advertised on their site - yeah, right.
Anyway, give them their due (despite trying to fob me off by saying he was doing me a special deal not available to anyone else), he has just saved me £20/month.
What he gave me was one of their Sim only deals.
You can choose from:- The One Plan - 12 month - All you can eat data (no restrictions against tethering/fair usage), 2000 any network minutes, 5000 3-2-3 minutes, 5000 texts £25
- Sim 600 - 1 month - 600 any network minutes, 3000 texts, 1GB internet - £20
- Sim 600 - 12 month - 600 any network minutes, 3000 texts, 1GB internet - £15
- Sim 300 - 1 month - 300 any network miinutes, 3000 texts, 1GB internet - £15
- Sim 300 - 12 month - 300 any network minutes, 3000 texts, 1GB internet - £10
- Sim 100 - 1 month - 100 any neywork minutes, 3000 texts, 1 GB internet - £10
It'll do until I decide whether I want to take out another handset with them or change carrier. Not as green as I am cabbage looking0 -
Hi, I'm on Mix & Match 500 and paying £5.50 pcm. My contract will be over on 20/04/11. I have rang them and they cannot offer me anything - asked if their are any sim only offers - said the most they can do 600 minutes at £15 pcm. My current package excludes internet. I would have been happy if they would have applied 2gb of internet to the account.
Has anyone else been on £5.50 line rental and been offered anything?

Ring them in the last month of your contract and select the option for leaving Three (rather than the option to upgrade) as they will probably offer you a good deal if you are thinking of leaving. Surely the worst they will do is keep you on your £5.50 contract, but hopefully you can get the £5 deal with 2GB internet included.0 -
In my last month. Contacted 3 on 15th and the best offer for HTC Desire (I have been adamant that I only want this phone) was
2000 x network mins
5000 txts
50003 to 3
All you can eat data for £28 p month. I could have had the HTC Wildfire for £20 p m.
SIM only with the above was £15
I was contacted last night and offered HTC Desire with
500 x network mins
1000txts
3000 3 to 3
1GB data
for £25. He would not budge and said no other deals were available even though I quoted 'friends' deals on this forum. I asked to be put through to cancellations. the guy who answererd said that he had nothing to do with sales or upgrades but was customer services to help me get a good deal. After about 15 mins I was offered the HTC Desire with
2000 any time mobiles
2000 anytime landlines
5000 txts
5000 3 to 3
Unrestricted internet
£10 international calls for £25 and one off cost of £8.30
I said I didn't need as much and had no use for the international package but to no avail as it was all part of the price. I tried to get a reduction in the amount of minutes so that I could retain £20 p month but failed (could only get £22 p month with one off payment of £68.30).
I eventually accepted as on balance, as I want this phone, it is a good deal and I didn't particularly want to go through a third party. I'll get others to use my phone too when possible so that I can make best use of the allowances.
Phone being delivered on 22nd Feb. Good Luck everyone0 -
Well I think I am going to get my next phone sim free.
I am waiting to see what the Xperia Arc and the Desire S are like in the flesh, as ATM I am toying between the Desire HD and the Nexus S. I have almost decided I want to go for the Nexus S, which is only available through Carphone Warehouse/Mobiles.co.uk.
I am going to have to look into the deals.
I am light user minutes and texts wise, and only moderate (atm) on the data side - although that may change. So I am looking for cheap plans with good data.
I have 3 options as I see it (and I am trying to work out the best deal.- Sim Free Handset and Sim Only Plan
- Lightly Subsidised Handset on Cheap Plan (Contracted in for 12/18/24 months)
- Heavily Subisidised/Free Handset on more Expensive Plan (Contracted in for 12/18/24 months)
What I am doing is taking the cost of the Handset - dividing by the number of months on the contract and adding to the line rental to see which works out best overall. Normally I would go for a free handset deal even if it meant an expensive contract as I often don't have the funds. But if it works out cheaper to pay up front - I have room on my current Credit Card and a 17 month 0% Balance Transfer to another card to use.Not as green as I am cabbage looking0 -
was on 500 mix and match with 300 3 to to 3 mins at £10.50 p/m, just called to give notice to cancel and offered following sim only to start from next billing date of 20th
500 mix and match
5000 3 to 3 calls
2gb internet
£5.00 p/m on flexible 12 month contract
quite pleased with this as i did not need a new phone

My Mum was offered exactly the same £5 deal last Friday, but yesterday received a confirmation that she will be charged £8 a month (£18 less two £5 discounts). Did you get a confirmation too? What did it say? I advised her to ring Three tomorrow to sort it out, as they definitely agreed £5 (I sat next to her when she called and she confirmed it about four times before agreeing to the deal!).0 -

Mum phoned Three today and they said she has been put on a £7 package (not £5 as promised or £8 as per the letter). After some haggling she got them to agree to reduce it to £5.11 (!) which they are apparently going to confirm by email within 24 hours.0 -
My contract ended with 3 at the beginning of January so being a slow coach I have finally got around to phoning them today to see what upgrade I can have. They have offered on a 24 month contract £20 -
500 min any network
5000 txt
2000 3-3 minutes
1 GB internet/data
I am fine with this but unsure which handet to go for. I have been offered HTC Wildfire, LG Optimus One, Nokia E5, Samsung Galaxy Ace, Nokia C7 or for the same deal at £23 HTC Desire, SE Experia X10
I use my phone mainly for internet and texting and am not overly keen on touch screen which seems to be a bit of a problem. I am currently using a Nokia N78 which I love - it does everything I want it to do but it is years old now and the ringer no longer works as the speaker is blown and it is really slowing down and hardly keeping a charge.
Does anyone have any suggestions?0 -
I gave my months notice last week and got my first offer today. Told them i wanted to keep my £10 loyalty discount and for £15 a month want the text 500 plan with HTC desire (currently £25). He said could do wildfire for £16 a month or for £8 a month get 500 mix and match, 300 mins 3 to 3 and 500gb allowance and free candybar sony ericsson featuring 2 MP camera. Told him politely but firmly that didn't suit my needs and no thank you. He said he'd speak to his boss and see what they could come up with. Seems promising so far.......0

£20 x 24 months = £480, which is quite a lot. Why not haggle them down to a £5 a month deal on SIM only, as that would work out at only £120 for 24 months. You could then buy any handset you want from their PAYG store (£12 Topcashback / Quidco too), or buy one somewhere else and unlock it (I bought a San Francisco for £100 from Orange then unlocked it to use with Three using an unlock code off Ebay for £1.50). Good luck!0
