3 Retention Deals

I've been with 3 coming up to 18 months. Have been paying £15pm for 1000 texts, 300 minutes.
They called a couple of weeks ago because the contract is due to expire end of December, all they could offer is £15pm for 300 texts and minutes combined, which is on their website!
This is much less than I already have and they want to keep the charge at £15 and give me a Nokia 6288. I'm not a heavy user and 300 texts and 300 mins will cover my usage.
Advised them I am eligible for the £10 Virgin 300/300 deal (without handset - happy with the dozen I have at home...) and over the past couple of weeks they have repeatedly called and offered handset, 300 minutes & 150 texts.
Over the course of an 18 month contract I am £90 better off with Virgin. I have to go with the deal that makes best financial sense - which I told them.
Called them today to give 30 days notice, they could'nt/would'nt budge on the above deal so asked for my pac, which came through by text.
Off to Virgin am I.
Mmmmmmmmm all is not as it seems, I have to beg 3 to take me back! I've been with Virgin for 1 week and the service is dreadful, it continually says 'no access to network'. I work 35 miles away from home and it happens at work and home, Virgin told me today a main transmitter has gone down and 7 others.
In addition, both sims were active until the port over, the 3 sim worked as usual but the Virgin one has been trouble from day one.
So - tail between legs and accept the best deal I can get from 3.0 -
moneyclub - if you get a new 3 contract, remember to use quidco for some cashback......Gettin' There, Wherever There is......
I have a dodgy "i" key, so ignore spelling errors due to "i" issues, ...I blame Apple0 -
Thanks GunJack, I shall indeedy0

mmm...dunno...retentions may be better, but don't know if 3's new deals will be. Let's face it, they're pretty good at the moment, so will take some beating. There has been talk on some threads of new year/spring deals being better...maybe someone in the know could enlighten us ??......Gettin' There, Wherever There is......

got a old orange payg Money cub ?
transfer to contract get 10% off your priceplan & 180 credit with alot of the higher quality phones,
600 mins & unlimited texts on dolphin35 is costing me 21.50 amonth - 3 cant touch that deal
similary I got dad porting away from 3 - HTC Touch on Racoon35 800 mins, 3000 landlines & 100 texts again for 21.50 a month
mix and match is not that great a deal, right direction but not the best with all these promotions on just now, Orange really are in a battle to up numbers prob after losing thousands and thousands this year when they kept changing T&C's
mind you that worked in our favour both ways - getting out of contract then rejoining Orange on one of the current promotion deals
if you went to payg from contract due to one of the T&C changes and want the 10% for transferring to contract ( usually you need your number being LIVE on payg for 6 months for the 10% off ) sales have told me they will allow the 10% off in these circumstances, when you call to register your handset and transfer no from payg to contract registrations apply the 10% code to your a/cSO... now England its the Scots turn to say dont leave the UK, stay in Europe with us in the UK, dont let the tories fool you like they did us with empty lies... You will be leaving the UK aswell as Europe0 -

Your right GJ, they are pretty good, I haven't found another deal (other than the Virgin one) to beat 3. Think I'll go back to them, with Quidco it works out this little experiment has only cost me £6 so not too painful.
Thanks again :T0 -

PS) ask around friends etc is anyone does, transfer the PAYG to your name and viola transfer to contract ! they apply the discount based on the 6 month period of the account being active - NOT when its transferred to your name !I rattled the Orange sales guys brain on all senario's over the phone!!! LOL
PPS) Never been with Orange till 15 months ago, they outshine the other 4 for customer care - 7/10 you get helped not hinderedSO... now England its the Scots turn to say dont leave the UK, stay in Europe with us in the UK, dont let the tories fool you like they did us with empty lies...
