Just rang three to see what deals they could offer on the n95, and as usual there was nothing!! Seems new customers get better deals

anyway, the CS guy did say that it is worthwhile holding out until christmas as it is likely there will be some good deals to be had, not just from 3 but from all the providers. Not sure if he's telling the truth, but sounded reasonable enough.

    what do you think?

has this been borne out in the past?
  • Hi there

i phoned up 3 this morning as my contract is coming to an end , at the mo i have nokia n73 i get

Video Talk & Text 1000 trans.gif750 minutes trans.gif150 messages trans.gif 50 Picture or video messages
Includes £5 free downloadsfor £30 per month.

they told me if i wanted to stay on my same price plan and wanted the lg viewty , on 18 mnth, they would want over 250 pound for the phone.

yet u can have that phone with mix and match 700, for £30 per month, but they could not give me that deal as i want to keep my number, also they said they have stopped doing sim only deals, is this true?

Tell them you will leave then.
Are any other companies offering a similar deal?
If so move to them and take the number with you.

Orange wanted £100 for an upgrade from me so I said I would cancel. Charge disappeared and got new phone for nowt.
We all evolve - get on with it
  • i said i would leave and they offered nothing better , but i will def move now

I have given up with Three. I have been with them for 3 or 4 years now without any major hiccups, but when I rang to upgrade the deals they were offering were ridiculously bad. During my last phone call to them where I advised them I wanted my PAC code unless they could do me a deal on 12 months on my current tariff (Direct Text 1400) I was even told:

"I certainly can sir, and we can even offer you an excellent loyalty discount of zero pounds which would leave your line rental at £35"

After he said it, he stopped and went on to tell me that if I was to take an 18 month contract he could do me a much better loyalty discount of £3 a month bringing it down to £32; these deals were with the Nokia 6288 only.

I now have my handset unlocked (which I a happy to stick with) and if my PAC code ever actually arrives, I'm moving to O2 Simplicity at £20 a month for 400 minutes and 1000 texts.

From what I can tell, all Three are interested in now is getting customers onto their new mix and match tariffs which (certainly by comparisson to Direct Text 1400) are less competitive and are also only available over 18 months.

    O2 here I come...

    Cheers,

Did you get three to give you the unlock code? If so did you have to pay £15 as an "admin fee"??? I got into a massive fight with them last night trying to get the unlock code for my old Nokia N80 which is no longer in contract (sim stopped aswell)
    SLC: £13000+

    Quidco
    : £
    131.24 (paid) + £0 (validated) = £131.24
    Valued Opinions
    : £75 (paid) + £52.30 (received) + £4.50 (pending) = £131.80
    StudentPanel: £25

oh well, the game is up. no phone call back from 3 for either of us (although my sister who gave notice on the same day as me got a call from some dodgy company in manchester yesterday, offering her an "exclusive" loyal customer deal that is exactly the same as is available in the shops (and much worse when you consider quidco))

my contract ends tomorrow, so my sim is going PAYG (if they don't screw the conversion up), and my business is going elsewhere...

It's true, there will be better deals after the new year. I took out a new contract with E2Save in November (12 months free line rental incl Quidco) with o2, Nokia 6300, 600 x-net mins and 500 texts. This deal doesn't even exist now. The nearest deal is now 8 months free with 800 mins and 500 texts.

No, I got the unlock code from a guy on eBay for £20; decided £20 and a 7 day wait was better then £15 in Three's pocket and an uncertain wait :)

e2save still have 11 and 12 month free deals on the homepage if needed (plus Quidco cashback).

You can always PAC your number to another network, then PAC back onto a new contract on Three if you see a good deal for new customers (I have done this a few times when I want to change contract but on the same network ... always have a few SIM cards in my drawer from different networks when they have their free offers on).

I am on a 3 retention deal from January 2007 which works out at around £30 for the year - has anyone gone on to get another retention deal off them or is it one then back to full price?

Three's retention deals differ from day to day and who you speak to, so always worth holding on for a better deal.
