  • I move into the 110 day period sometime in early October. It'll be interesting to see how long it takes them to start ringing up and offering deals.

I never wait, I constantly call them until I get through to the person who does that irresistable deal.

They ring me up every month, anyway (curiously enough, always on my billing date), asking me to take out extra phones or buy a laptop. I'm a patient man (no, seriously, stop that sniggering at the back) and I can wait for them to come to me. I'm working on the principle that the closer I get to the end of my contract the more desperate they'll be to keep me.

    Some times they don't call!

I called up to see when my contracts expired, and one had expeired a week previously.

And I still can't get a decent deal from upgrades or retentions :(
  • Hi,

I have been with 3 for 2 years, and this will be my second upgrade, my contract ends at the end of October. Phone the upgrade department and was asked about minutes choice and phone preference, said would only consider the 1 Plan and was torn between the Samsung Galaxy S and HTC Desire. Straight away was offered the Samsung Galaxy S for Free on a £32 a month 24 month contract. Giving me 2000 minutes any network, 5000 mins 3 to 3, 5000 texts and 1GB internet. Like a muppet I accepted it without negotiating because I was tired and had just looked at in on the website for £40 per month. Is it possible they could of lowered the price on the same plan if I haggled or would would the offer of a lower tariff monthly price come with lower mins or data etc? I ask cos it was the first offer they made and at the time it seemed good, but once u hang up is when u wonder could I of got a better deal, is the deal even a good deal. Your thoughts would be most appreciated
    1) Could I of negotiated the line rental and got a decrease in price on the same One Plan offer
    2) The Phone has not been delivered and was told could return it within set period, so can I ring and tell them I am not happy and negotiate further
    3) Is the offer any good?
  • I've been a three customer for about 6 years. I currently have 2 contracts with them (had 3 at one point). I'm on 300mins, 150 texts, 25mms, 25 video mins and £5 of downloads all for £5 which is good, but I regularly go over the mins and have an internet add-on so usually pay about £10-15/m.
My phone is next to useless so badly need a new one.

Rang upgrades a couple of weeks ago but wasn't offered anything better than the Wildfire at £20/m with decent mins/texts but 500mb internet which I declined.
Called retentions today and if anything, the offers were worse! These were my offers:

    *iphone 3GS 16gb for £25/m for 36 MONTHS (I laughed!)
*The lowest she'd go on the Samsung Galaxy S was £30
*The lowest for the HTC Desire was £22 for only 300mins with everthing else adequate.
*No budge on iphone 4 web price. I said I'd take it today if she'd waive the upfront cost but she insisted they can't do it.

I asked if they could add some 3-3 mins and 'net to my current plan but she said it wasn't upgradeable. Requested my PAC which I just received via text.

Quite disappointed. Was hoping to have a new phone by the weekend as I'm going away and my phone barely works!

Does anyone think it'd be worth trying again later today? Failing that, know where I can get an iphone by friday? lol

    Thanks! :)

    Try, try and try again!
Treat it as a game, play a long, listen and be polite. Most importantly be prepaired to be patient. I have found that the phone call can easily last 45-60 minutes.
I'm not sure if you'll get an Iphone by the weekend but good luck and come back and tell us how you got on.

Almost exaclty the same offers I have had.
I have been with three for 7 years now.

They also offered me 100 mix and match minutes with 500mb internet for £19 a month, but they also offered me the same 300 M&M deal (£22), but I was looking for more 'net alllowance.

They are not giving much away this year, I have already requested the pac code for one contract and I am just wating till I have 30 days left on my second contract.

Recieved my Galaxy S, upgraded to 24 month contract on One Plane for £32/month with free phone. I thought I try my luck as I only received the phone today and thought maybe I could get a it for £30/month or have an accessory or voucher sent out. Here is what happened! Does it sound legit.

I phoned the options and said was not happy with the upgrade terms and was thinking of returning the phone. The chap I spoke to offered me less minutes for lower price. I refused said i was very happy with the one plan and minutes and was looking for a lower line rental of say £30 a month or an incentive like bluetooth headset or accessory/movie voucher, he guaranteed that the line was already heavily discounted for an upgrade and system would not let him do it. Then he made a suggestion and guaranteed me that if I reduced the tariff now to £20/month 200 mins/2gb internet/ 18 month contract for that would class as my upgrade and then in a month I could call again and raise it back up to the One Plan for £25 per month. I was confused and could not understand the logic in that when they refused reducing it to £30 per month as an upgrade, he said it was because upgrades had a certain way of working and were controlled by the system etc and assured me what he suggested was legit, even gave me his name and guaranteed he would call me back in a month to get permission to change it. I really don't know if he fooled me and if I will end up being stuck on a 200 min contract and in a month he wont call and when I call back I will be told that was not possible. Any thoughts? Cos it seems to good to be true and also from a business perspective dont make sense.

Also, not sure if he was flattering to deceive but when he gave me his detail he said he was from the premier league department from the options team who deal with the top 2% of customers, normally I would laugh but can he lie so blatantly and make an offer that wont ever happen and is not possible?

Hmmmm, not sure about this one, normally if something sounds too good to be true then it normally is...
