I think possibly the key to getting the Hero on a decent contract is just to call and say "I'm moving networks as I want an iphone" ... they then read the script about how the HTC Hero is a competitor etc etc, and try to persuade you to stay with them. The deal I am considering is this:
24mnth
Free Hero
-300mins
-unlimited texts
-free skype
-free 323
£15 per month (And another £5 for internet add on)
or, if I wanted an 18 month contract I was told I would have to pay £50 for the phone. What I really want, though, is the 18 month AND the free phone....is there any chance of getting this?Best 2018 wins: £1500, £500 John Lewis voucherBest 2019 wins: 18 of the latest DVDsBest 2020 wins: £100 cash 2021 wins: 130 books 2021 wins: Jubilee silver necklace 2023: 8xfootball shirts, Spar vouchers, £200 Tesco voucher,0 -
Has anyone else heard of this
Not heard about the calls from other networks thing but Three have this crazy idea that you are not loyal to them if you change your tariff.
I have 500 minutes and 100 texts for £10 a month - £20 loyalty discount. They keep telling me when they offer me rubbish deals to upgrade that a new customer would have to pay £30 a month for my tarif (even though the M&M 1100 is only £27).
Obviously I don't expect the same amount of loyalty discount on any tarif but some sort of discount for being with them 5 years would be something of a gesture...
Very tempted to leave for T Mobile £25 for 1000 mins and unlimited texts. Only stumbling blocks is that the extra minutes are a safeguard I don't really need and I can get the same deal with three but with unlimited internet instead of the extra minutes.
Three site down for upgrades at the moment so will wait for that to come back online then call and mention t mobile if nothing decent is on there!0 -

I'm in a similar situation.
I've been with them for 4 years and on a similar deal, paying £18 a month. However the new deals they are offering me are pretty rubbish to be honest. I dont need as many minutes as I have anymore, but if I downgrade I lose my loyalty discount and end up paying the same for a contract with a lot less minutes and texts!
I want a Blackberry but they want me to pay an extra £125 for the phone, which I'm not prepared to do.
I've now asked for my PAC code, so I'll see if they come back with anything better.0 -
had it with 3 now just cancelled my upgrade
as above i got my mix and match for £13 1100 min
upgraded on line
dont bother with india cs they said no way £20 min
the deal was £27 reduced 25% to £20 + £7 loyalty =£13
manged to get the deal ringing up uk cs they added both discounts and checked i can have it by head office
recived the phone last night samsung .its been used and secondhand
rang up to send it back ukcs fine we send you a new one
rang up returns india cs
if you return the phone you cant have the 2 discounts it be £20
i said its £20 to any new customer as its a old phone with 25% reduced
argued for ages she said if you keep the second hand on no change
rang them back up after
cancell the upgrade /returning the phone i want my pac
iam on my last month now 18 month been with 3 for the start
good bye three never again0 -
For info. Hope it helps someone.
Just called to switch from £15 talker (-£5 discount = £10) 250 mins/50 txt per month.
I don't use this anyway so changed to PAYG as I've another phone now.
(figured PAYG was easiest way to make sure contract was ended)
I was offered a Sony T715 slider phone free on 18 mth contract at £15/mth.
unlimited txt & internet, free 3-3, 75 xnet mins.
If they offer anything better before the switch to PAYG I'll let you know.0 -
Hi, im quite new to this retentions stuff, i dont know exactly how it works, i phoned up three and told them i was due for an upgrade i was then offered phones i dont want. i told them i wanted the htc hero, and the best they cud offer me was 18mth contract £15pm 200 mins unlim texts and 200quid for the phone + 5 quid for unlimited internet. of course i told them where to shove that offer.
I;m guessing i didnt speak to the retentions department? how do i get there is it just as simple as asking to speak to them? also my contract isnt due to expire until march would this effect my offers?
sorry for all the questions!0 -

It is pointless trying now, wait another month.
Upgrade department won't be able to help you anyway, you need to phone up and ask to terminate your contract or ask for a PAC.0 -
leave three if you get the chance
ive sent my upgrade back conning bunch off scum bags
there charging me for the upgrade month £27 now
as im in to my last 30 days of contract

Same here - I'm paying £13 a month for VTT700 (several 100 mins, can't remember as I rarely make calls - 250txts - 0.5gb internet) which includes £22 'loyalty' discount.
It's coming up to that time of year again when I upgrade - the only phone they have that remotely interests me is the Hero, so I'm hoping to get it for free, or maybe creep up to £15pm. If not, I'm off - 3's choice of Android phones is terrible (ie just the 1). I got fobbed off with a crap phone last year (Samsung thing that's so basic it's unreal) so not falling for that again..0
