3 Retention Deals

Another nice short conversation with custmomer services who were so keen to keep us that they kept finding all these "special deals". In spite of telling them we ( my daughter that is ) were not bothered about the phone but did want more texts and about the same number of talk mins, they kept coming up with deals trying to push the latest phones. Apparently all the girls want the latest pink phone from, who ever, in which case my daughter must be a bit strange as she hates pink phones with a vengence!
I kept explaining we wanted a deal for £15, but basicaly the nearest they would get was £9.79 for unlimited Txt and 75 mins talk. No good at all for us and explained we could get a SE C510 with 300mins talk and unlimited Txts for £15 on Vodaphone (24 month contract). As stated elsewhere in this thread they have no understanding of quidco and the £90 'cash back' from them.
Did eventualy obtain a pac code so looks like we will be leaving 3 after about 5/6 years. I think they really need to look at their retention policy. Offering Skype and 3to3 calls etc might sound good but for us its all about talk mins and txts.
Vodaphone here we come!!:beer:The more I learn the more I realise how little I know:beer:0 -
As mentioned on another thread, I phoned up to see what upgrade they cold offer me at the weekend and was offered a SE C510, with my existing mix and match 1100 for £20 (includes £7 lifetime loyalty discount) and a £180 voucher for comet.
Pretty good deal I think. Free phone, great tarriif and 180 quid.0 -
My contract with 3's running out next month and when i called customer service to ask if I can have Nokia E71 for free on mix&match 300, which I've been on for 3 years now, an idiot from Bangalore didn't budge, just offering me the deal that i can get at any shop (texter 200). As I didn't buy into that, he threatened to cancel my contract. I was so angry as it was not my inital intention. However, at second thought, I then called back asking for the Pac code, as I couln't bother dealing with their horrible customer service (the second guy didn't offer me anything either). Now's the time to look around...:mad:0

Yep, getting shot of 3 seems to be the general consensus right now. Especially the swam of cancellations they are experiencing now due to the termination of "3 Like Home" service. One begs to wonder why they aren't trying to retain customers in the first place by giving them better offers to stay at this crucial time. Perhaps they've put/loss too much money in getting free skype and merging masts with T-Mobile? Who knows! :huh:0

Called 3 Today .. they gave me E71 for 17 pounds a month .. and I said NO ...0 -
3 don't offer their best deals until you actually have a PAC code. The retentions person will say that all offers are no longer available one you have a PAC, but this is not true (even if it was, you could let the code expire and try again).
Get the code and a few days later you'll receive a call from a different retentions team that can offer much better deals.
Don't be afraid to haggle with them too.
They'll open with quite a good deal for a mid-range phone. I found the best approach is to say you're happy with your current phone, but would like to reduce your line rental. They'll eventually offer more minutes for less money and still let you have a new phone (even a high end one). If you opt for one of their cheaper phones comet vouchers and other incentives may be available too. I got an E71 on Mix&Match 500 for £8/month with this method.
Remember it's a negotiation and information is power.0
