3 Retention Deals

OK, retentions called this evening. Finally gave in to them...it was close enough to what I was after. I was sensing they were about to give up on me due to my indecisiveness and obsessive comparisons with the E71 £20 offer.
Anyway here it is.
Mix&Match 300
+ 20 minutes video call
+ Internet
+ E71
= £17pm
I'm happy with this, as it saves me signing up new with quidco discounts and porting number out and in again. I couldn't find any deals out there that would match on phone and contract with internet. The CS guy also said he couldn't discount any special offers as they were already discounted, which I kind sort of understand.
Furthermore, they won't discount any addons like Internet Max, etc as these can be removed at anytime. So line rental reduction is the only thing they can make cheaper whilst the addon remain fixed price.
Could have had it with LG Viewty for £15 pm, but didn't want that phone.
rev_henry - The 14months contract I mentioned before doesn't exist, sorry to mislead. Basically you can upgrade on you 14th month plan and handset and this would become effectively from your next bill period, any discounts will be applied at the end of the previous minimum term.
I'm sure more offers will come in May. Now what do I do about the 5800 I ordered a couple of day ago in my anticipation of leaving 3. :rolleyes:0 -

Gits, just spotted it, although it initially says 50 quid for the phone when you go through the process it appears to be free.
I am now totally hacked off - I think I may go for the Voda deal on the HTC Magic and use quidco, 120 quid cashback and 30 quid a month well thats the equivalent of 22.50 line rental with unlimited internet and more minutes0 -

i am currently on £25/month for 300 mix n match mins and unlimited internet
so have been playing the pac code game with 3 for the last week in order to get a good retention deal
here's what they offered:
attempt 1: £8.50/month for 400mins (later explained it's 100xnet + 300 3-to-3 ... cheeky monkey) and free unlimited skype mins (haha) and free stupid phone
No thanks.
attempt 2: more or less the same as above with better phone, but i asked 500 xnet mins for £10 and the guy got !!!!!! off and stopped listening! haha. no result.
attempt 3: I then requested my PAC code via email. within 5 mins they called me up with £15/month for 300 mix n match and unlimited internet.
Not bad at all. But. I did spend on average £50/m over the past year, mainly due to calling to abroad so I didn't feel they give me any reward.
So said thanks but no thanks.
I actually figured a better deal for me:
Virgin Pay Monthly £20/month
18months
400 xnet mins
unlimited txts
unlimited internet (30p/day when used)
3 months free
Nokia E63.
If I sell the E63 I could get up to = £180 credit.
Free 3 months = 3 x £20 = £60 credit.
Cost of line rental = 18 x £20 = £360 debit.
Total cost £360 - £180 - £60 = £120 total ie effectively £7/month
Now that's a good deal to me.This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
chatziva - I was thinking along the same lines with what 3 offered me for £17 pm with E71 and internet on Mix&Match300.
17pm x 18mths = £306
Sell the E71 = £200 or more?
Overall cost = (£306 - £200) /18 = £5.8pm
Surprise surprise they are still doing the E71 deal for £20pm, if you prefer unlimited text instead.
Or get the Mix&Match 1100 for £20.25 and see if you can wrangle an N95 8GB free, then sell the phone to cover some of the line rental.
All the above options will work out quite cheap if you decide to sell the phone.0 -
So I ended my contract about a fortnight ago, as it was 17 months through. I've just had a call from 3hree and ended up agreeing for them to send me a S-E C905 with an 18 month 500 mix'n'match contract for "£17.69" pm.
He told me it wasn't possible to get my internet thrown in so I'll have to continuing paying £5 pm for 1gb.
So nearly £23 for 500 mix'n'match and 1gb internet with a sony C905 for 18 months.
My question is; should I go though with this or can I do better?
Any advice will be gratefully received.0 -
You can do better!
I was called today, offered 300 mins and 1400 texts for 9 quid a month, told them I used more minutes than texts so offere 750 mins and 150 texts for 9.70 a month with a Sony 505 phone. Told them I didnt want that phone wanted better, so Final offer :
750 mins
150 texts
20 Mins Video Calls
50 Picture Messages
5 quid of downloads
Nokia E71
15.60 a month for life
Thankyou very much!0 -
ha! they've taken the 3 months free rental discount off
now the virgin deal works out to £10/month
still good value
re parallax the 1100 mins are probably way too many mins!!
yeah decent deal with the E71, generally if you sell your handset you get good dealsThis is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
